You let your gf wear heals on the hood of your Miata?

No joke I’ve seen some serious pics. Flew with a CA that took out his iPad and showed me explicit pics of his wife and her “improvements.” All unsolicited of course.

Better than Miata pics, but no doubt much more maintenance and tournament level costs.

Been there as well. More than once.

Nudies. Ugh.

Had a captain “accidentally” show nudie of him and his wife.

That was his rehearsed act to solicit the nudist lifestyle.

He then recited the dirty nursery rhymes that Andrew Dice Clay did in his act.

He was near retirement.

I’ve never wanted to jump from a plane so bad.

Quote: The swapa forum is a cesspool and I second that how they are trying to poke holes in any offer. It’s almost as if they are trying to sway others not to take it by coming up with these crazy scenarios that will never happen. The pay works out to be 75% of your guaranteed monthly TFP! If any of these morons think it’s going to be where they can get plenty of trips like the old days they are nuts.
Exactly. Just wanted to voice my opinion, but you said it all. The moaning and complaining on the swapa forum about how 150 trips per month is “my norm” blah blah blah. Good luck doing that going forward. This offer was WAY better than I had anticipated SWA to do. IMO it’s a huge gift. With the metrics going forward, I cannot see a reason not to take it for most.

At this point, if you are over 60 and aren't taking this offer, you are either married to this job and would literally "do it for free", or you have made some serious financial mistakes in life and have no confidence in your ability to do a different job to make up for the income. The guys on the forum are making some serious excuses. When anyone junior says anything to them suggesting it may be a good move for their good, the good of the company, and the good of those who would otherwise get furloughed, they are making lame excuses about bankruptcy risks and their sick banks. If you are over 60, or even 55, and have hit your retirement target, as most have, punch! It's a no brainer.

I think going forward, our ability to fly extra will be severely curtailed. Last month if you were above the cap, you were dead in the water for open time. 100-110 will be the max going forward, and that is going to be with some moderate effort. Same thing this month. Every trip has multiple senior bidders in both seats. I don't see a significant recovery for some time, and even if it keeps going at the current pace, it only takes one more major outbreak.

Opportunity is knocking. If you are over 60 and want to work 12 days a month for 20tfp, I guess knock yourself out.

Meh, you're wasting your breath in regards to the regular SWAPA forum rats. Fortunately the vast majority of our pilots rarely visit and don't rely on their group think to form their own life decisions. I agree this is an incredibly sweet deal that initially left most even there at a loss for words. If I were 60 in MY current life trajectory, yes of course it's silly to pass this up. Yet, everyone's situation is unique, so I won't disparage anyone who doesn't take the offer. Especially when I feel I'd be hypocritical if I don't take an ExETO and my first 55 TFP every month can also be construed as working for free.

In a different life... I always wanted to retire early, and while I'm still young for that goal I do have some bucket list items I could get to now. I'd LOVE to take EXTO, but my family and I already made some decisions that would be super disruptive to change, bad enough to zero out any benefits I'd have from taking EXTO. I have young-kid expenses and we moved to an expensive area for *reasons*, so if I wanted to take EXTO I'd have to move the family yet again just to pay rent without having to get another jerb.

So yea I think the offers are amazing, but I'm not in a position where I can take advantage of them so I'll have to pass and stay the course, hoping I don't get furloughed.

If you’re 60+ and don’t take it you will have to work 67 TFP just to hit break even and start making money....not factoring in NEC/PS. That’s hard to swallow.

I would love to see all those senior pilots take it and run. It’s best for all that remain, but I don’t hold it against them if they stay. I’ve flown with pilots who could financially have left before this offer and would’ve been just fine. For them I’m assuming that this is a no brainer to step out and any money that they get from the company is all bonus. Others are more financially pinched and feel the need to work as much as they can right up until retirement. I don’t envy them...they will probably work full time with no more than 87-89 TFP and make an extra 100K in wages and NEC. Maybe 150K if they manage to get some extra trips. They also don’t have to worry about getting gutted in a bankruptcy. I’m assuming those on the first wife will be gone and those on the third will still be here. There will be plenty of takers....SWA did a great job and hopefully this does negate the need for any furloughs.
