Since AA is flying its MAX in December, when will UAL fly it?

After the merger closes.

Several Max 9's were down in Orlando getting software updates done to them them past 2 weeks.

March or April.

Looks like the Max-10 is delayed for a couple years. The Air Current published an article recently that stated Boeing was looking at further modifications to that particular model rather than a clean sheet narrow body design.

They need to do a clean sheet, but they are so far airbus. 777x problems, 787 problems, max problems

KC-46 problems, Apache problems...

Are all the fixes software or are there some hardware fixes needed?

Nothing wrong with the Max that this machine can't fix.
