I know things have changed when I ran into one of my old S/O's (Now int'l Capt.) and he said, "You would not last 20 minutes around here now." Brrrr.

They’re monitoring you too!
They are not monitoring me from your iPad! Thanks!

Quote: Well I definitely wouldn't be in a hotel room with one you don't know VERY well, alone or otherwise. There are still some #metoo entrepreneurs out there, they're going after the company's deep pockets, but they need a sacrificial anode for that process to work.
Alone in a hotel ROOM?! Yeah, I'd NEVER do that.

I'm not afraid of talking to them in the airplane or terminal, keeping the conversation as bland as possible. But as soon as we leave the airport, I do avoid the females, cabin or cockpit. Better for the marriage, if nothing else. I have gone out on overnights with crew but prefer odd numbers if there's mixed company... improves the chances of an honest witness.

Never to a hotel ROOM though.

What’s the rule again when you find you are past the no hotel rooms rule again? Your room or hers?

edited: “hers” is in a generic Cisgender term involving a self-identified male and female in consensual proximity and is free of all racist, misogynistic, homophobic, transphobic, istaphobic and phobaphobic terms and maybe they voted for Biden but not the male.

Either room, but bring your company iPad, remove the tape from camera/mic and record the event.

This ensures double security since the company will be monitoring and thus a witness.

Quote: I have flown with a couple people like you mention, but more I’m surprised about how many believe in crazy political conspiracy theories. For a well educated group it’s entertaining to hear some of the stuff these guys come up with. Had one guy tell me he never pays federal income tax from his rental properties because he never agreed to do so in the first place and it’s unconstitutional for the government to make him.
Did he actually say that??? You legally dont have to pay tax on your income properties anyway due to depreciation set by the IRS.... Real estate owners especially apartment owners dont pay taxes on their income. I think this guy was confused hahahahah

They can though. I know of someone that decided not to show up for reserve. They called him for a trip, that he called in sick for. They pinged his iPad and saw it was out of state. They gave him a chance to tell the truth. He lied. They fired him.

Yes.

With apple, turning it "off" is not enough. It's "off" to you, but it's still on, still knows where it is, and that data can be accessed when you use it later. Or maybe the actual owner/administrator (the company) can ping it when it's "off", they do have that "find my device" feature.

If you don't want your EFB functioning as a company lojack, get something like this...

Or just... You know... Leave your iPad at home. Get your own ipad. They aren't that expensive.

Leave it at which home? And then take a couple extra flights to go to that house to get it on my way to work???

In the case of a reserve guy, home may be out of position.

But yeah I never use the thing for anything but work, just sometimes I need to have it with me so can I can take it to work. I'm not even gaming the system but if I have to call in legit sick they don't need any insight into my lifestyle or travels.
