In the case of a reserve guy, home may be out of position.

But yeah I never use the thing for anything but work, just sometimes I need to have it with me so can I can take it to work. I'm not even gaming the system but if I have to call in legit sick they don't need any insight into my lifestyle or travels.
The point of my post is, if you're going to play hookie, don't bring evidence. And if you do, don't try to lie your way out of it. Turn it and all data off or run it out of battery.

Skeptical of this one, every contract worth its salt (and even ones that aren't) likely have provisions that state EFBs cannot be used for disciplinary action unless criminal activity is suspected.

This has happened more then once, not all contacts have caught up with technology. And every instance I know of involved termination for lying.

This airline doesn't have a contract, I believe it 100%.

Lying will indeed get you fired and rightfully so, but if someone's contract is lacking they better get in gear. In many cases, firing isn't just for one offense there is usually a trend or history. Always best when you have to remind your Chief Pilot of your name yet again.

Well that sucks, what airline doesn't have a contract or at least a working agreement these days? Even OO with its non-union agreement has protections.

It’s less nefarious than all of this. In fact it is the pilot who physically gives them their location instead of the opposite.
You wouldn’t log on to the company website from Cancun. Yet the EFB will immediately call home to check for updates.
No pinging required.

They also have the ability to look at your travel history, when you checked in through KCM, or the fact that you said I can't make the commute in time for the reserve call out today and they ask where you were yesterday on the first day of your bucket.
