Quote: Roughly how many flight hours per month can a new FO expect to fly out of PDK? Also, are they currently hiring?

You'll get a wide variety of answers on this. The average is 50 hrs/month, but I have seen as low as 25 and as high as 90.

We are hiring for both seats but only advertising for direct entry captains. The January and March classes are filled with a mix of both seats. If you submit a resume, they will keep it on file.

Do you know when they will start calling applicants/interviewing for next classes?

Nope. I would expect early next year.

Each new hire class has spots for 12.

Whats the captain to fo ratio these days? Sounds like a lot of people are jumping ship.

I was going to ask the same question... That seems like a lot of hiring. Is it due to attrition? Where are people leaving for? Are they planning a large expansion? What's the morale like?

Our attrition rate is about the same as it has been, it has been heavier on the captain side, hence hiring direct entry captains. The expansion is mainly on the jet side - PC-12s have been mainly for replacement. We should have 5 Nextants and the first PC-24 by end of 2017. Those planes need more bodies to fly them, and I think we have been adding planes faster than we hire and upgrade.

I think morale is fine right now; however, the company is going through changes with the new bases, changing crew schedule, etc. I think our folks will continue to feel uneasy about those changes. The plus side is that our pilot group has a good relationship with management and we continue to make positive additions to our quality of life. Most people leave to advance their career, not because of poor morale.

My personal opinion is that the biggest challenge our company will have in the future is the same as everyone but the top tier, top paying positions: attract and retain pilots. The business model works, but maybe at some point we won't be able to continue expansion to meet demand.

I think we found the recruiter...

I'm hardly a recruiter. Just diplomatic and level headed. I would love more people to work here so it makes my seniority number more secure. I also recognize that it's not the right fit for every pilot. There's a lot of pilot jobs out there and this one is a pretty esoteric flavor.

Well best of luck, I'm thinking my views are not esoteric enough. Street captains sounds like hitting the panic button to me.
