Quote: Any thoughts on the key to getting your app pulled?

I’m 3200TT, military veteran, but non flying military, college degree, 1600 121 SIC (no TPIC). 1 internal recommendation. Been updating my app a couple times a month. Crickets.
How many total recommendations? Need at least 4. Only 1 needs to be internal.

1600 turbine time isn't enough. Minimum is 2000 Turbine, and the others are right, TPIC isn't "required" anymore. TPIC will certainly push you over the top. As is, with a few hundred more hours, your app is just as competitive as a few thousand other apps.

Get 2000 total turbine, upgrade, go to job fairs.

Until then, you are close to being one of a few thousand barely qualified applicants.

Thank you. I will definitely work on getting a few more recommendations.

Job Fairs
Anybody know a good place to find a schedule for airline job fairs the American will be attending?

Quote: not quite, I know of quite a few FOs getting on from various regionals with no TPIC. Times have in fact changed.
They are getting hired more often. No facts or knowledge I’m just guess the ratio of people hired with TPIC to no TPIC was probably 50 to 1. Just because it may have come down to 25 to 1 is not a great bet. You always want to try to be the rule not the exception on t

There are really only a few big job fairs. Just check their websites.

FAPA, OBAP, NGPA, RTAG.

Although I wouldn't be surprised to see them more involved in the future at other ones, including things like Oshkosh and SunNFun.

A buddy of mine submitted his app and got the invite to interview after around 8 weeks. 5500 total, regional captain 1500 tpic, Military Veteran with a college degree. And got a thanks but no thanks email. FO’s are apparently getting invites with zero pic and no degree and no military.

Sounds like there must be something deeper in that one…

Cant say that I have heard of too many people getting a TBNT email unless they really screwed up the interview pretty badly.

Yes, regional FOs are getting the call now. Primarily because there are so few regional captains that have up to date applications and are bothering to keep them current. Many Regional Captains are getting comfortable and not applying to the airlines. As a result, their FOs are getting hired instead. And in a year or so when the regional industry collapses, the current regional Captains will be junior to their previous FOs.

On the surface looks like an ideal candidate. Likely top third of new hires. So, what is wrong with his resume, application, interview? Something majorly screwy. Did he pick his nose and intentionally flick it at the interviewer?

Maybe he ate it?
