Quote: The most junior pilot awarded 765A on the April AE was 4068. As we get more 330s I think we will see 330A going around 4000 seniority eventually.
Yeah, sorry, my 3000ish number was strictly for the 330. I wish the 765 would have stayed 100% international. I almost jumped on that over a year ago and glad I didn’t. Right after the AE was closed that I could have held it the 2 day non commutable trips started showing up. Now I’m headed to the 330 and excited about it.

Same here. I was thinking about bidding for the 765 in 2019 also. Definitely glad I didn't. Those LAX 2 days would have been brutal. I'm headed to the 330 also and very excited.

The NYC 765 2-day domestics were in the bid packet in the winter of 2016-17 and were commutable on one end. That was when cracks started to show in the “Juniority”.

The 2-days went away the summer of 2017, but returned ‘permanently’ (I.e. year-round) in the fall of 2017. Except now they were uncommutable on both ends. I knew more than a few pilots who bailed on the category solely because it. That’s when when the juniority dam broke open, and has never looked back. It has continued to amaze me how Junior it always goes.

I left the category in 2018, so can’t say for sure what happened to ‘the domestics’ after that, but it has continued to go super Junior to every other WB, and stay that way. I was the plug for 6 months, and yet would be at ~40% after the last AE. That’s insane.

Thanks for the insight/info to your world. Good stuff to know if one was to venture down your lane of choice. Thank you again to shed light and the various aspects of timelines that may or may not be the out come of bigger/heavy metal international and your seat. Y’all rock!

Quote: I don't get it. I thought pilots wanted to be pilots, not lackeys' for old senior captains. On the April AE, 5 years got you a 737 captain seat at both SEA and LAX.
Pssh. This pilot just wants to work as little as possible while still making good money. That’s why i stoked to be waiting for wide body OE right now.

International WB isn’t for everyone but it definitely has its merits and you can actually finish a protracted conversation plus a nap on one leg. Dozing for dollars or a dollar in my case ain’t bad living. Hopefully post Viral Panic we’ll get back to bouncing around the not so local neighborhoods again. Can’t see myself traveling much after retirement especially for Christmas presents/ distinctive gifts from abroad. (Granted some of you will retire by 60 or earlier perhaps) One of the many unique aspects of the “job” some call it.

A cynical pilot may notice that when the fleet started being reduced by 15% for a "interior refresh" program and the company said they were going to reduce the NYC headcount while keeping ATL steady during the refresh, noncommutable lines started occurring in NYC to "encourage" pilots to leave vice arrive thus abating any needs for short term displacements.
Now that all have been refreshed, it seems that they are releveling the bases (765) and NYC is back to a more traditional structure.
I know that's a cynical stake and the company would never operate with such a strategy on purpose, it just happened to work out perfectly.

When those two days go away on the 400 they move to the A330. Not well liked in NY but some guys liked stringing them together.

Problem was that, at one point, you couldn't. They would sign in at 7:30am and get back the following day at 11:30pm. There wasn't enough legal rest to do them back-to-back.
