Quote: Isn’t there still a risk of getting another base besides MEM cause the company has to fill that slot?

Not if you don’t specifically ask for that base/fleet, no.

If that’s (base other than MEM) all that’s left when it’s your turn to pick then yes.

They can’t force you to an FDA. Not sure about Oak or Anc.

Yes, any base other than an FDA (Europe) is a possibility even if you don't want it. If all that is available when your name (SSN) is up is ANC 777, then you are going to ANC.

True, but the only FDA we have now is CGN. As stated above, ANC, OAK, LAX, IND, MEM are all on the table.

Quote: Just know that if the 757 is anything other than your last choice you will not get New Hire Junior Activation Pay. That means you will be on the narrow body FO pay scale the entire time you are on the 75. If it is your last choice and you are forced onto it then you will get wide body pay to fly it. The upside of the 75 is going to be rapid advancement. Also we just had a bid that is supposed to be a 2 year bid. That means if you get the 75 you might not be able to bid off until winter 2023. But also know that if you pick a wide body by the time you activate you probably will not have 2 years to satisfy the seat lock before the next system bid and might have to wait another 2 years if they keep doing these mega bids. Then it could be 1 or 2 years to train into your "to" position as the next bid trains out. Whatever you get as a new hire post 21-01 could be your seat for the next 3 to 5 years, so want what you bid. I would recommend bidding wide body slots and let them force you onto the 75, unless money is not really an issue for you.
This is not true.

You could bid 777F MEM first and 757F MEM second and when someone in the class behind you gets a 777 to MEM and activates, you will receive NHJAC for the 777 seat you should have had.

Not trying to be argumentative but you are incorrect. I am living it right now. I did exactly what you said, bid 777 as my first choice and 757 second so as not to be seat locked. I am on the 757 making narrow body pay. Took it to the company, CE, and tried to grieve it. Not happening. No NHJAC for me. The company and ALPA response is that only if 757 was the last choice with every wide body listed ahead of it would I get NHJAC. I know that's not what 24.F.6 c and d says, but that's how they have decided to interpret it.

And that is 100% correct. Surprised you didn't know that. Or nobody told you that.

I am not sure why you would be surprised that a new hire did not know the intricacies of the contract. Most people I fly with, like the poster I originally responded to, do not know how NHJAC works. At any rate I am not here to have internet arguments with people who know everything, I am just trying to get the word out to potential new hires so that they can avoid being stuck on the lower pay scale.

Someone just told me its in the email you get as a new hire when you bid aircraft. So not sure how people are getting confused. It would make sense that you have to have attempted all WB airplanes otherwise you got what you wanted as your second choice. You choose it above WB airplanes.

It may be in the email now but it certainly wasn't when I got hired. It would make sense as long as you ignore the contract definition of "Crew Position" and instead substitute the word "Category". But once again, I'm tired of arguing about NHJAC, I was at it for a while last year. Just trying to get the word out to new hires that unless you pick 75 last you will not get NHJAC.

If I wanted 757FM with WB pay could I simply bid all WB MEM fleets with 757 at the end and satisfy the NHJAC requirements even though I didn't bid any OAK/IND/ANC fleets first?
