So is the FO who died recently. I wouldn’t read too much into it.

Quote: I'll chime in because I actually knew this guy pretty well back in the day at the Academy. One of my drinking buddies, he was actually pretty funny and a very solid guy. When I heard about this incident I was quite surprised to say the least. What he did was horrible. Blows me away that he got hired. I couldn't imagine looking him in the face after what he did.
I’ll pile on. John Perrys was one of my T-37 instructors in pilot training. He was a fine pilot. Fast forward to his time when he was a student learning to fly the F-15. He didn’t have what it took to make it through the program. That’s okay, not everyone makes it. What’s not okay is how he handled it. He stole his training record and lied about. He also lied about other things during training. He must have forgotten about the “safety observer” in the back seat during his last flight. I don’t know what his mental state was.
This is absurd. JetBlue either got duped by his lies again or they have made a horrendous decision to let him fly their planes. Get him out.

Jetblue getting duped is the most plausible scenario. I absolutely have first hand experience with their background check/record keeping process. The paperwork was a monthslong slog; guys were 7 weeks into training without having even had their PRIA verified. So far as we can tell, though, he’s gone now. Now we can go back to being mad about normal pilot things.
