I know someone that was wrongfully terminated from JetBlue a number of years ago while on probation. The settlement was no where near 2 million, and it took years to pay out….not to mention he did nothing wrong (was on probation). Not a chance in heck this violent felon was paid 2 million to leave 😅 zero chance

Also if they actually *knew* about his background when they hired him, and then changed their mind due to the publicity then that's a lawsuit they would 100% lose, especially since he gave up a previous job (fracs?). Probation is not actually a carte blanch to fire someone for "any reason or no reason" in most states. You need a reason, it has to be reasonable, and it also has to be equitable, ie you've treated others in similar situations the same.

Yes, in fact you'll get a bigger payout if you're notorious and newsworthy, vs. just some average Joe Slob who was late to work one time too many.

Yea, probation is essentially carte blanch to get rid of someone for any reason. Good luck proving otherwise. And JB did not pay this guy to go away…that’s some BS schoolhouse rumor. If for some reason he decided to sue JB, he would become persona non grata at any job with career expectations…not just flying. It’s best for him to just keep his head down and move on.

Not to be outdone...
"Perrys was wearing a bulletproof vest when arrested at Tyndall Air Force Base near Panama City, investigators said. They said a search of his vehicle turned up several knives, handcuffs, a spool of parachute cord, a shovel, gloves, glass cutters, keys to Lister's home, pepper spray and a mask.
