I haven't read this yet, but for the 350 guys, you better get your own cups of some kind with a lid or your going to have to go to the back to drink anything but water.
I've been carrying my own insulated tumbler for years. It's one way to improve an already bad coffee experience. I also like the option of having a drink container with both ice and 12oz of liquid.
The real statement of environmental stewardship vs cost cutting would be if Delta provided reusable pilot cups. Otherwise this is just a cost shifting measure like reduced NYC layovers.
I don't really care one way or the other because I carry my own anyway, but cups without lids on the 350 flight deck are verboten.
It’s because you old farts can’t be trusted not to spill all over the console and shut down the engines. Then you need a “no spill zone” Airbus chart to help you out with common sense. Not directed at you JB…and I used old farts liberally to apply more to seniority not age.

They said to read the article because the article states that they have sourced “tight fitting lids to avoid spills” (paraphrased because I’m not gonna look it up for exactness). So your concern for lidless cups was covered in the article that advised of the change.
Thousands of cuts. There are probably 10 cups in that bag, at least. That's like 18M styrofoam cups a year. That's not "a tiny number." If all of us just did little things to improve our environment, our world would be SIGNIFICANTLY better.
why don’t you do something big like stop being a polluting pilot?
