Quote: Just a heads up for frequent deadheaders. First United decided to end Global Services for corporate travelers, and now American Airlines has decided to stop offering frequent flier miles to most corporate fliers, unless you buy your ticket from American's website. Global Travel is still waiting for definitive word on how this will impact us. If it does, the change goes into effect 1 May 2024.

If you think that American will stop giving miles for tickets purchased from one of the largest corporate travel agencies in the world, you're out of your mind.

But the OP posted a link to AA so its gotta be true, except that the link says preferred travel agencies are okay, ie.corporate travel. But hey, guys like to be angry about anything. AA is saying that booking through 3rd party sites like Cheap Fares.com isn't going to get you miles anymore.

Here's a suggestion. Give Global Travel a call. I did. They aren't yet sure how this will impact us. Other corporations that use BCD travel (that's who we use) have been told they are screwed.
But maybe if all of us call Global Travel they'll send out an email with the latest update. And by the way, those of us impacted by United's decision to end our access to Global Services thought they'd never go through with it because it would cost them too much money. Still waiting to hear back on that one, but so far it appears they don't really care.

Please provide your source that says Global Travel is a "preferred travel agency". Because Global Travel doesn't have it. You'd do us all a huge favor.

Here, I'll do a little more homework for you. Does Global Travel do this on their website?

"A new product attribute of American’s offers is the ability to earn AAdvantage® miles. For an agency to be considered preferred, they must demonstrate their ability to clearly communicate to customers when they earn AAdvantage® miles in the online booking tool throughout the booking flow before a purchase is finalized. "

Because that will be a requirement to be considered "preferred" by American. Here's a link that explains the rest of the criteria.

Quote: We can absolutely write a clause in that states that any tickets purchased for us must be eligible for unrestricted FF miles and status. I don’t think we would even be the first to do it. Atlas guys have similar language for their hotels, per their CBA, they get hotel points.
I'm an Atlas guy. This isn't true. We stay at many hotels that fo not provide us points. If the hotel provides points, they are ours to keep, bit there is no requirement for us to get points at hotels.

It looks like individual travel agencies need to apply to become a preferred travel agency.

Just an update. Global Travel has contacted American to ask for an explanation. So far no response. But Global Travel is aware of the issue and is still not sure how it will impact us.

Quote: This is simply a quality of life issue for FedEx pilots who deadhead on other airlines.
Imagine being convinced that frequent flier miles, on flights you didn't even pay for, are a "quality of life" issue. Wow - you guys are overdue for a dose of reality.
