Say “I don’t know how to work benefits to my advantage” without saying “I’m an absolute idiot”. I’ve been at FedEx for a couple decades. During that time I can’t count the number of times I’ve flown my family to meet me on trips all over the world. Using frequent flier miles. I also have commuted to work regularly using frequent flier miles. That means a reserved seat. Not worrying about a Jumpseat. Maybe having a gin and tonic while watching a movie instead of sitting in the middle seat in row 53. Maybe you’re single and have no friends. Too bad. But in my FedEx career I’ve probably used close to $1 million worth of frequent flier benefits to travel with friends and family. For free. As I type this, my wife is traveling on business class for free to meet me on the trip I’m about to start. Quality of life? You bet. Because as nice as most of the people I work with are, nothing beats hanging out with my family. Especially when Fred is paying for it.

The pilots at other airlines get the same shipping rates we do. Let that sink in.

We don't get the same travel privileges they do.

We have earned those miles.

Perhaps it is time to cancel their special shipping rates.

that’ll show em!!!!!! all those miserable pax guys will probably write a letter about it.

corporate discounted tickets and no longer getting all the bennies of a program that airlines are trying to make it harder to become a part of. makes sense to me..

time to pencil this into the contract, make mgmt pay the amount it takes to maintain these bennies, great time to do it considering negotiations are open.

If you were actually not a troll, you might have credibility.

That's nice of FedEx to do. Nobody asked them to do it, nobody is required to reciprocate in any way, and nobody would have any basis for complaint if FedEx stopped doing it tomorrow.

We don't get the same travel privileges they do.
Many companies offer perquisites to their employees that they do not offer to others. This is nothing new.

We have earned those miles.
You deadheaded on some airline to some place, and you did not buy the ticket. You earned nothing beyond what is stipulated in your contract for deadheading. Nobody owes you anything more.

Perhaps it is time to cancel their special shipping rates.
Feel free. You won't hear me whining about it, especially not as some "quality of life" issue.

You are way over thinking this. Many business professionals are directed by their companies to fly for business, and they keep the frequent flyer miles (and even hotel points) as an earned benefit of their business travel. This is a frequent, often standard, practice in the corporate world. It’s not unique to FedEx professional pilots.

Let’s keep the professional pilot bar high.

You are correct we certainly do. Unfortunately Mark may not be getting any perhaps, but I am doing quite well especially now that viral debacle is over and $24 flights are nil. Definitely a plus I would say, makes my qol quite comfortable. Included breakfast (great meals not flip your own waffle) and other benefits at some very nice hotels abroad doesn't hurt. Not saying I am "entitled" to such things, but there is no doubt life is better!

Is this due to the postal contract though?
