First United, now American

Just a heads up for frequent deadheaders. First United decided to end Global Services for corporate travelers, and now American Airlines has decided to stop offering frequent flier miles to most corporate fliers, unless you buy your ticket from American's website. Global Travel is still waiting for definitive word on how this will impact us. If it does, the change goes into effect 1 May 2024.
If you think that American will stop giving miles for tickets purchased from one of the largest corporate travel agencies in the world, you're out of your mind.

But maybe if all of us call Global Travel they'll send out an email with the latest update. And by the way, those of us impacted by United's decision to end our access to Global Services thought they'd never go through with it because it would cost them too much money. Still waiting to hear back on that one, but so far it appears they don't really care.

But the OP posted a link to AA so its gotta be true, except that the link says preferred travel agencies are okay, ie.corporate travel. But hey, guys like to be angry about anything. AA is saying that booking through 3rd party sites like Cheap Fares.com isn't going to get you miles anymore.
Here, I'll do a little more homework for you. Does Global Travel do this on their website?
"A new product attribute of American’s offers is the ability to earn AAdvantage® miles. For an agency to be considered preferred, they must demonstrate their ability to clearly communicate to customers when they earn AAdvantage® miles in the online booking tool throughout the booking flow before a purchase is finalized. "
Because that will be a requirement to be considered "preferred" by American. Here's a link that explains the rest of the criteria.

Please provide your source that says Global Travel is a "preferred travel agency". Because Global Travel doesn't have it. You'd do us all a huge favor.

We can absolutely write a clause in that states that any tickets purchased for us must be eligible for unrestricted FF miles and status. I don’t think we would even be the first to do it. Atlas guys have similar language for their hotels, per their CBA, they get hotel points.

It looks like individual travel agencies need to apply to become a preferred travel agency.
