Do they hire or select for an interview based on your preference for a base?

What are the conditions to change your base?

Thanks and congrats on your new job! Hopefully I will get a call for an interview soon.

As far as getting the call based on if you live near a base;

I would say that if you DON'T live near a gateway and you are willing to relocate to a gateway then you need to make that VERY obvious on your resume.

It's a bit of a non-starter if you live in bfe and can't report for duty. With that said we just got a commuter policy that allows crashpads, relatives and the sort...so it's possible I guess. I'm not very familiar with how it works as when I was hired we had to live in our gateway (2 hour drive anyway).

As for changing your base, well...if you live at one gateway and you want to move to another one that's open then you simply call the chief pilot and get the ball rolling. If it's open then you get it based on seniority.

All schedules are 7 on and 7 off with every day being a start day. Weekend start days go junior and tues / weds go senior. You can bid a start day as often as you like but there is some pain involved to get to a new start day (read extra days at the daily rate) so it's best to just get to your preferred day and stay there.

GlasssPilot -

Do you know how it would work if you were presently living in a city that wasn't a gateway but upon your getting hired you were going to be moving to a gateway. You say above to make it plainly obvious that this is the case. I would assume that they are use to seeing former military guys and they would understand that we may not currently live near a gateway but understand the *old* condition to live within two hours. Other than this - how do you suggest making it obvious to them? Do you mean including a line "Willing to relocate" for instance?

What's with the training contract? Have they had a problem with people leaving? Also, anyone know if APC's info on their retirement is correct - company only matches 25% of first 3%?

Bases are expanded....above info is old

heard that they are only doing internal referals

internal referals get a call within a week, interview within 2 weeks

hiring is not based on gateway - only that you live within 120 minutes of a gateway

6 day indoc in clearwater
1 travel day - 6 guys in a rental car to PBI
then 12 days at Flt Safety

1 week off unpaid while you wait for IOE

then 1 week IOE - pay starts

no type rating

FO's fly only right seat - no seat switching

upgrades projected now at about 12 months

no union - heard there is a pilot advisory committee of 6 line pilots
heard some union talk too

?/

what else?????????
