Very reliable source tells me when company institutes the proposed BLG reductions, it's going down like this:

For the FEB '09 Bid period, All domestic aircraft except the MD-11 will have their BLG'S lowered to the levels mentioned in the latest ALPA email.

The Union voiced their strong opinion that this is in direct violation of the contract, to which several high level MD's responded "FU#$ 'em, let 'em grieve it".

JG then informed the company that they should enjoy their new "twin-engine $165 million dollar MD-11's" they just purchased and that if this BLG reduction happens, they will NEVER have a 777 agreement (to which I say "YEAH!"). The company gets to deploy the 777 just like the MD. Also, we learned that the company is attempting to tactically deploy the 777 to stay under the 16 hour rule, instead of MEM-HKG they will fly IND-HKG and stay just under the 16 hour rule.

Let there be no question that although times are bad, relatively speaking (instead of making 4 BILLION NET, we will make 1.4 BILLION NET) we have already stepped up to the plate. We are living with less credit hours than before, and we have responded to the company's request for cost savings in other areas.

To ask us to sacrifice more is unreasonable and just another management mistep and miscalculation. I ask you to think of ONE positive leadership decision or change that the current regime has made? One? Obviously there is a disconnect between our current leadership and Mr. Smith for if he knew what was going down here and the horrible after-effects of losing our good-will he would most certainly step in and put a halt to rash of horrible decisions made by our management team.

I am thankful we have a CBA to ensure our rights and provide a detailed guideline for work rules to follow.

We will win this grievance and the fallout will be another "mooked" up decision, but this one will cost more than the proposed then cancelled excess bids of past.

I predict this one will cost the jobs of the senior management here at FDX. This one isn't DW or JG, we need to rally behind them and STICK TOGETHER.....FOR ONCE!

The dominoes are falling. Feb bid month will be the beginning of a long period of shared pain, with emphasis on shared. We'll see how long that lasts. I see DC-10 guys awaiting training taking the biggest hit, making exactly 48/60 until they upgrade, then 727/757, Bus, domestic MD, and international MD remaining relatively unchanged. All leading to towards some unknown number of guys/gals on the street for a while. Unbelievable!

Why anyone would want to bid the 777 at this point amazes me.

With 4a 2b coming, and the delivery delays, that could be the express train to 48/60 for a long, long time. Regardless of seniority.

Even with the payrate fiasco, the potential to sit lots of RSV at 3 hours a day is going to be a rude awakening for some. Good luck with that.

Excellent
Convair,

Excellent post, you hit the nail on the head.

Convair,

Shack!, admittedly I read more than post, and at this moment I'm drinking more than I'm reading. For many of us this is not our first rodeo, and I like many am saddened to see standard airline management fare being served up at FedEx.

I hope it is shared pain and that everyone pulls on the rope and does what is right for the junior guys.

As Doyle Brunson said on more than one occasion, " I guess it's time to go "All In!".

I liked your post, but

Did you forget the smiley face with this?
Given our past, I find it astonishing that anyone would think this.

I don't think the f word is going to come into play.

Re-read the messages. The reduction TOWARD 48/60 is to mitigate or PREVENT a furlough. 700 pilots fat is compared to "perfect manning". We are typically never that tightly manned. And that is before these measures.

Just MHO. Been wrong before.

Not trying to be overly sure here, but I feel certain the "F" word will only be used as a "shock and awe" threat to force our MEC to push a sub-standard 777 LOA our way.

One thing is certain. Should we stand strong and not vote in a sub-standard 777 LOA, especially in light of the Christmas turd under our tree this year from management, Mr Smith will be fit to be tied.

Can you imagine the conference call?

FS - "P.....what's the status on the 777, are we ready to introduce the aircraft on the MEM-HKG route?"

PC - "Ummm, Mr Smith, due to macro-economic decisions and efforts to mitigate financial pressures, I inadvertently woke the sleeping giant, also known as UNITY. Thus, you won't be able to fly your shiny new 777's any differently than you do your MD-11's"

FS - "P, get your butt over to my office at Hacks, NOW!"
