I don't have the mou in front of me, but in your example I believe you would be pay protected for the difference between 320 and 7er, not m88 and er.

I don't think you have to bid everything, but if someone junior to you is in a higher position, I think you forfeit the protection. Actually now I'm confused too. It's on the dalpa site, and someone will come along here and correct me soon.
Quote: I think we will need to see what the Henedia slots will look like. Also, I don't think open skies give AMR (for example) beyond rights from anywhere in Japan. But, it may give JAL more opportunity in say DTW. But, it won't give them beyond rights.

My admitedly small knowledge of the issue.
Ferd, you're our boots on the ground, we turn to you now to disect the good, bad, both, of an Open Skies Treaty. If not you then who?

Seriously, hope RA and team and/or Buzz put out something soon... unless Ferd figures it out first...

Or maybe we'll hear Monday that we need to add Guam to our base choices.

Quote: When filling out the MD in case I get kicked off the 7ER NYC, how do I go about getting pay protected? I was under the impression that to receive 7ER pay I had to make my MD preferences by order of positions (page 22-2). So let’s say I get booted off the 7ER NYC, I would have to bid all other 7ER bases, then all other 767 bases, then all 73N bases, then 320 bases, etc. in order to receive my current pay?
I don't know the answer about the VD - maybe someone can help on that.

As for pay protection, as I understand it, you don't have to bid for other 767 equipment: the pay protection depends on whether you have a pilot junior to you on your old equipment. So, lets say you get displaced off the 7ER and end up on the M88 in ATL. If there is one pilot junior to you that is holding the 767, 7ER, or 755 (NW's 757 bases) in any base, you won't get any pay protection for the 7ER. See below though.

Quote: If I only entered one MD, example M88 ATL but I could have held 320 MSP I would not receive displacement pay from the 7ER?
In this case, you should get paid the difference between 7ER and 320, on top of your M88 pay, because you could of held the 320.
A few more....

54. Some Like it Cold
55. The Warm Ultimatum
56. The White Stuff
57. Numb and Number

But seriously, for my DAL S bro's, commuting to MSP really isn't that bad. I've been doing it off and on for 10 years and never had a problem. Clean and inexpensive hotels, and some pretty nice people up there. If I lived in ATL, I'd take MSP MD88 over NYC any day. Oh, and mainline doesn't fly into Minot anymore. (The 0440 MOT departure at 30 below was a rite of passage for the '9 guys...

Call me crazy, but I miss Minot. Good food at the hotel, and the van driver would always make a beer run for you if you got in after the hotel bar closed down. Cosmic bowling next door was always worth the trip. Plus, where else in the country will the tower controllers play you a song about their town over the radio upon request??

Nostalgia aside, anyone want to tell me why we no longer run DC-9s into Minot? I have done that 0440 departure many times with a butt in every*seat (including the jumpseat). Makes no sense to me.........

So much for the much talked about but rarely seen pulldown of RJ flying....
Open Skies
So trying to figure out the new Open Skies agreement between Japan and U.S., Delta says we support open skies agreements, UAL say's they're really happy, Continental and Continental Micronesia are really really happy and American is elated and said that Delta had making an "intense" effort to block a treaty.*

If I%

Ok. You're Crazy.

I used to wonder about how we managed to fill every seat in a DC-9 at 0440 too. I just figured that it was part of a mass exodus out of the frozen plains of ND. But that wasn't the case. We flew full back to Minot as well. Go figure.

Look at the upside. If you really want to embrace the feeling of numb extremities and frozen nostril hairs, all hope is not lost. I spied a few 32 hour Grand Forks layovers on the pairings list for next month!
Here's a question. I was MD'd to NYC 88 from CVG 88 back on October 1st. I'm on 73N pay protection right now from being displaced off that aircraft earlier this year. If I'm awarded a reinstatement back to CVG on the -88, but I still can't hold the 73N anywhere in the system, do I lose my pay protection? Since I'm asking, if I'm awarded a vacancy on the -88 or -9 anywhere, do I lose my pay protection?
Quote: Here is a summary of all AC/Bases available per this bid at DAL
