Quote: I think they have given out more Green Slips on the 320 in the last three days than they have all year. A couple 5-days in DTW given out today to RES guys and I saw a 21 hour trip given out to a REG guy. SLC has basically no reserves until after Christmas. Wonder what they are gonna do when everyone has PB days on the 24th and 25th and everyone pulls the GS requests out?
Do what every airline does. Cancel flights & blame the pilots.

They say color coding has returned to the Reserve Pilots Available screen, but I've never seen it. We need to hire some people, which is a good thing

Yes, that soft, mellowing glow of Indigo Blue always takes the edge off when my reserve/off day swap gets rejected.

The inverse assignments will be flowing like egg nog.
Make sure you don't answer your phone.
gs's will be flowing? just like in aspen where the beer flows like wine?
on that note, A319 with a side of 320 pilots are like the beautiful girl in blue, scheduling needs in orange, and when the two get together it's pure magic! well, until someone makes just an itsy bitsy sick call...

Quote: I keep getting a pop up in iCrew telling me to remember to bid my golden days for recurrent training. It tells me that I'm available for training between FEB 2011 and APR 2011. I've got vacation right in the middle of possible training (from 27FEB-05MAR).

Two questions.

1. I'm making vacation plans for this time. Can they schedule me for training over my vacation? What's the likelyhood?

2. I went in and listed my golden day request to cover my vacation time. The repsonse from iCrew I got was "Training Request Accepted", almost as if I was asking for training on those days (vacation). Are these "golden days", the same as in the reserve system? Did I just screw myself......again?

Bottomline, I've been with Delta for 3 years and this is the first week (yes one week) of vacation I've truly gotten since I've been here. RA made a comment the other day about how DL provides for vacation accural for military guys while on MLOA. Well....not so. This is the first 7 days in a row I have gotten completely off since 9/11/01 and I really don't want it messed with.

You cannot be scheduled for CQ on vacation, period. You might want to protect the days before or after, depending upon your vacation plans.

Also make sure you are very careful when coming in from a trip. If you see extra people in the jetway you might want to think about putting a sweater on over your uniform shirt and slinking off with the passengers. Jetway assignments often happen around Christmas.
Quote: Heard today that a guy who is in the pool of new hires was told to expect to start training in Jun/Jul. This is second hand, but solid info. My question is anyone have any idea of the number of guys who haven't come on property yet who are awaiting a training date? In this instance it's a mil retiree who leaves active duty in May. Isolated case or not?
I was in the second new-hire group in 2010, interviewed July 6-7, indoc class Sep 6-17, A320 training began on Oct 12th. I was impressed with how quickly they got me through....and I retired from the Air Force. I think my situation was the norm. I think you'll be in good shape.

Congrats, and glad to hear your wait for training wasn't long.

I was asking more out of curiosity (I was hired in '08). Until I heard about this individual case where a guy is on active duty when he interviewed and wasn't available to start training until summer '11, I didn't know Delta had any kind of pool of new hires. Maybe it's just a bucket, and not a pool.

It just goes to show there's no need not to put your best foot forward with the application process. Not available for 9 months? Not a problem, just put that down and see what happens. Good on this dude for making it work.

hopefully the cleaners have the aft stairs down, that also is a great escape.
