Well, since I have worked every day since the day before Thanksgiving, I figured I would blast out of town for a few weeks. Depending on my mood I may GS/YS a trip on the 27th.

I am leaving tomorrow and will probably not be home for at least 10 days.

I too will be home for Christmas... and the rest of the month if GS are only single pay.
I called my rep and am repeating what he and the scheduler both told me. I will go dig it out of the PWA.

2. A reserve pilot will not be:
a. assigned a rotation that:
1) will cause his credit to exceed the ALV.
2) will cause his total projected block time to exceed his block hour limit.
3) is scheduled to interrupt a golden day(s).
4) has a report that is less than 12 hours after his release at his base.
has a report earlier than five hours from the end of his last non-fly day.
Exception: A reserve pilot will not be assigned a rotation that has a report earlier
than 1200 (base time) if the non-fly day that preceded the on-call day was a
vacation day.

The two hours prior to ALV is what my Rep and the Scheduler both told me. Heck call them when you are five hrs away and tell them that you want to be shown "Full" for the month and see what they say.

Not for a reserve, we don't get the DPA. For example, as a reserve, you could fly DTW-LGA (1+30), overnight, DH back to DTW (1+30) and only get 3+00 hours of pay.

Default Golden Days

I keep getting a pop up in iCrew telling me to remember to bid my golden days for recurrent training. It tells me that I'm available for training between FEB 2011 and APR 2011. I've got vacation right in the middle of possible training (from 27FEB-05MAR).

Two questions.

1. I'm making vacation plans for this time. Can they schedule me for training over my vacation? What's the likelyhood?

2. I went in and listed my golden day request to cover my vacation time. The repsonse from iCrew I got was "Training Request Accepted", almost as if I was asking for training on those days (vacation). Are these "golden days", the same as in the reserve system? Did I just screw myself......again?

Bottomline, I've been with Delta for 3 years and this is the first week (yes one week) of vacation I've truly gotten since I've been here. RA made a comment the other day about how DL provides for vacation accural for military guys while on MLOA. Well....not so. This is the first 7 days in a row I have gotten completely off since 9/11/01 and I really don't want it messed with.

Delta Air Lines expects 2010 financial results to show the "best year in the past decade," but CEO Richard Anderson says 2011 is likely to be even better, citing the outlook for "solid" growth in earnings per share. Early next year, Delta plans to begin discussions with aircraft manufacturers regarding the purchase of new planes, President Ed Bastian told an investors conference on Wednesday. Don't worry about getting any training over vacation days, I am pretty sure they can't do that.

What iCrew is telling you is you put in the 5 days each month (they have to be consecutive) that you don't want recurrent training.

You have to put your Golden Days prior to the 1st of the month that you are specifying for. For example, for Feb 2010 training, you Training Golden days must be in before Jan 1st. Training department has between Jan 1st and Jan 5th to assign you any training in Feb. If you don't have any training specified by Jan 5th, you won't be going to recurrent training in Feb.

You can put in Feb and Mar Training Golden days now, doesn't have to be just before that month.

Thanks.

Thanks a lot. I will go adjust those golden days now.

Hmmm. The only thing that casts doubt on this being true is that it says "discussions with aircraft manufacturers regarding the purchase of new planes." I don't buy it.

Had it said "discussions with airlines regarding the purchase of their used aircraft." I'd buy it.

I'm sure not only are we eyeing every MD-90 in the world and play footsies with SWA over the 717, but don't forget about AMR's parked A300s, 762s and Fokker 100s. Also, we could try and buy back the MD-11 and convert them back into airliners via a "snip-snap-snip-snap" method of aircraft transformation based off of Michael Scott's vasectomy, vasectomy reversal and then subsequent vasectomy. We could bring back the Avro jets. United might be willing to sell us their 735s, 733s and 762s as well. And I haven't even hit the international airlines and what they have to offer.

Really, a boneyard is a goldmine.
