100% correct

Commuting to reserve LAX is horrible, with SNA & ONT in the mix. It should be your last choice. I would go with SLC320 commuting from PHX.

Thanks ACL. The Conversion window ends Dec 1st for the May AE. That was where I was getting confused by your post. I understand what you were saying now.

Crisis Averted!.....Carry on.

I wish I was in your shoes. Christmas off. Way to go.

As Dragon states, and I was to lazy to sign on to my other computer to pull the award, Everyone off the May AE will be converted on Dec 1st whether or no you have gone though or started training. Since the conversion is on the first you should get ALV for all of Dec if you are in training for that entire month. It will be pro rated if you are scheduled to complete prior to the 31st.

Let me know how 320 training goes. I am thinking that may be my next stop if I get displaced in Jan.

Yes, as has been said, if you got the bid on the 19 May AE then you must be converted on or before 1 Dec. Don't forget that any vacation (primary, secondary, tertiary etc.) you had that starts after 1 Dec you will now have to rebid all at once. Make sure you have the vacation rebid in prior to 1 Dec. It will be awarded by 5 Dec.

Denny

PS. Enjoy your time off from 1 dec until you go to training!!

All the flexibility for planning is on their side. What if Vol has x-mas plans? Ooops, doesn't matter. It's easier for the company to keep him hanging on until they decide what they want to do.

At the very least, we need to tighten it up so they have to pick a conversion date (and put it in writing) within a reasonable time (say 10 days) after publishing the AE award. Then both sides can plan. If the company doesn't get their house in order with respect to training and gets backed up, then the pilot sits home.
Yea, if only there was a better way of doing things

Thanks for the vacation re-bidding tip. This million-page thread has been a wealth of information!

FTB is setting a record, barely 14 hours of flying in 30 days.

I'm either a bum, a saint, an example to follow, an example of how to become broke.

Disclaimer: This is not indicative as to life on the ATL MD88 B, it's really hell. First of all, its Atlanta, and we don't have seasons. We have Summer and February. Leaves don't change color they just fall off the tree. An 80 degree thanksgiving is not out of the question. I was at an Iron Bowl in nearby Alabama in 2001 in 85F weather. Not cool. Get it?

I agree! For those of us who didn't get the benefit of INDOC at DAL it is invaluable! The "Delta Way" is getting to be more and more familiar by the day though. I guess you PMDAL guys aren't as bass-akwards as originally thought! Ha Ha! Except for that darn "Trade your Reserve Days" page in Icrew. That thing is unbelievably hard to use.

ACL,
I'll let you know how 320 training is. I'm going to it because I'm out of options. Was a 747-200 guy who was pushed from ANC & landed on the DC-9 for seniority purposes. Now the trips are soooo bad I just can't take it anymore. Used to hold a good line, now i'm struggling to get weekends off on Reserve. All my buddies on the 320 LOVE it, but i'm sorta partial to the Boeing fleets. I'm sure i'll change my tune once i'm out on the line.

Thanks again for the info guys!

It's been said that there very well could be some new categories on the January AE. I'm thinking ATL 320 or NYC 320. Anybody else want to toss in their guesses?
