Quote: While I think we can all agree alpa work - especially volunteer work - sounds like something you may consider slitting your wrist prior to doing, I have to come to Xrays defense here.

The FPL issue is self made.
Quote: ...Where is the FPL data? Rumors of $250,000, dropping holidays and so forth out of seniority are out there, some data would help resolve the lingering questions. Like in the Council 20 letter stated.
Agreed! Had to laugh at the goings on in C44. The Rep who was supposed to be on ALPA duty had a pretty good trip and begged someone else to take his ALPA trip drop so he could go fly the line over Thanksgiving instead of taking the drop.

I've called my Rep over a scheduling issue over the holidays, expecting to leave a message. Surprise, he answered the bat phone at home at 10:30pm and provided good guidance. That's what Holiday trip drops are, a 24/7 version of reserve where you have to babysit management and pilots and try to unscrew whatever buffoonery occurs when your most junior employees are working long hours in adverse conditions. They provide a good service keeping problems out of the CPO.
Quote: No they won't. The vast majority of us can't get max pay plus stipends plus expenses, plus, plus.

The incentive is keeping MANAGEMENT happy since that's where their bread is buttered.

With this "union", the answer is YES. Because that's what management wants. You know, constructive engagement and all.

Because they won't be screwing themselves. They don't live under the same deal we live under.

Carl
Thank you for stating your opinions. If you would be so kind as to present some fact (and applicable sources) to back up your opinions it would be useful for the rest of the readers.
Wonder what AMR's bankruptcy means for us now. Status quo? I think we'll see a merger shortly between AA & US Air led by Doug Parker.

I would love to be a bug on the wall in Mahogany Row right now..
Quote: Have you ever done an ounce of union work? If you did, you'd know the amount of time that both volunteers and elected union officials on the LEC and MEC put in day in and day out. It's literally non-stop and the FPL that is received hardly covers the man hours that are put into running the union.

If it's so cushy, why aren't you beating down the door to get one of those jobs?
I agree with this. The work is insane and the pay never comes close to the work they are doing. That does not mean we should not have more transparency.
Elvis,

I posted this on the other thread, but it is worth repeating ... in effect someone burned lunch in the Accounting floor's break room. The accountants are running around in a haze, but otherwise things will go along as normal.

US Air has to move out of #4 and might make an offer to the creditors. This is a no lose offer for D. Parker. If he gets something, good for him, if he runs up the cost of American's bankruptcy claims (as he did to Delta) even better for him (and Delta and United and the American pilots). But, I expect the stakeholders to keep American's route network together.

True - I could envision OneWorld coming to help out, either with money or some sort of higher revenue sharing to help them out.
Boy, add TWA to the mix on the AMR thread and well, you moderators have fun.
Quote: Are you kidding? The NC/MEC/LEC, etc will be working ALPA trip drops and keeping their cushy jobs while you and I fly the line day in and day out. How long do you think it's been since any of the MEC administration flew more than a few days a month?
You mean the LEC reps who cannot use any trip drop to hold LEC meetings?

Do you work an average of 21 days a month?

You mean the admin guys who show up every work week, bringing YOU the benefits of Contract Administration to make sure the company isn't screwing you contractually? To staff the NC that spends countless hours negotiating LOA's that improve your QOL outside of Section 6? The R & I to help disability and retiring pilots get the assistance they need to make the best decisions for their family? The Treasurer who manages $30 million each year and has been do such a good job that the Delta MEC has been able to bank $250,000 each month so that we have near $10 mill. in our SMRA?

Do you think these things happen through magic?

Those guys make 82+5, which is 87. Divide that by 5:15 and you get 16.57 days...... They average 21 days of work per month (not including any weekend travel)

I'd say we are getting them at a discount, YMMV.

Shiz;

If that is the case, FPL conspiracy theorists would probably agree with you...So publish the data. The lack of published data - rather than the 1 inch thick computer printout that noone can understand - feeds the conspiracy fire.
