I just got the call also.
They have gone to General Quarters on Virginia Ave.
Skeds is putting the whole airline on short call.

If it snows at Hartsfield --

Do folks on here know about the outgoing ATL chief pilot's ALPA background? Totally unsat. I want my union folks to be persona non-Grata in the Mecca hierarchy.
I'm no fan of the national association either, but be real. This is petty stuff right here. Why do you want the leadership to be persona non grata? Does that somehow offend you? What if he get's us a 50% pay raise and you only have to work 5 days/month... AND... all the RJ flying comes on the property.. BUT.. he will be the next head of flight ops? Ridiculous you say? Uh.. no.. it's exactly like the joke about asking a girl if she would sleep with you for a million dollars... (I will regale it if you do not know it). All we are arguing about is the price.

I never said that ALPA was the avenue to success Carl. I just want to know what it is that DPA has that ALPA does not that would make them more successful.

As far as question 2, I believe that since the guys negotiating the contract also have to live under that contract it is ludicrous to believe that they would want anything else. No.. it's beyond ludicrous.

I am no pom pom shaker... but I fail to see other than vitriol towards ALPA. What it is that DPA brings?

Mods: Sorry this is here, but I am just answering the question. Feel free to move it over to that other thread.

How about the fact that in 2000 they did just that?

You mean, other than choosing them? I'd say that was a pretty large effect.

I didn't say you said it. I said your question presupposes it. Here's your post again for review:

Did you read the part that says: "If ALPA cannot deliver..." That certainly sounds like your thesis is that ALPA is the only way, and if ALPA can't succeed, who can. If that's not what you meant, great. But your statement belies that.

This kind of false premise is what allows our MEC to behave in their top-down manner. They DO NOT live under this contract. That is the whole point.

Part of the problem here is that you're describing the statements of fact as "vitriol". If you allow fact finding to be described that way, corruption wins.
