Sometimes I think the car to buy is the ones just gaining popularity. As other Honda people have said, once the Odyssey got popular then Honda began to pull back. I guess margin management.
I had a Dodge Intrepid as my second car. You want to talk pos.
Fwiw my new hire sim partner at Coex was a geologist for an oil company. He said in the field only two trucks lasted- the F250 and Chevy Suburban. The Chevy trucks weren't as good as those two but he said the Dodges fell apart, broken axles he said. This was 11-15 years ago though.

Ford trucks have historically had very bulletproof drivetrains. I used to tow a lot of vehicles and the ford diesels with a manual transmission were the best...then they put the 6.0 in it and poof killed a good thing. All the ford diesels from the 6.9 to the 7.3td were amazing.
I sold all of them several years ago and kept my 2000 chevy 1 ton crew cab 4x4. I still drive it daily. It rolled over 230k miles recently. The only non fluid changing mx I've ever done to it is replacing the ball joints at about 200k. It still has the original a/c compressor with the original charge. Great truck, but the difference between chevy and ford is really in the 4x4 mode. Fords lock up all 4 wheels, chevys are just limited slip. I have pulled my chevy out of a field with one of my fords more than once.
Low mile 7.3 powerstrokes from 2002 and earlier still sell for upwards of $20k. ford 6.0 liters are much less expensive because of the engine troubles.
Betcha didn't know ford and chevy 3/4 ton and larger use gm frames. Yield management.

Speaking of cars, I kid you not, the boss' airport car in the hangar:
My understanding was the price was $300K.
He bought it because I guess he had to in order to get in line to buy the one he really wanted which if I remember right was 1/2 the price of the Sedan.
When he put the hood down on that car you saw more doors open and then close then I think on a 747. But man once it closed you had no idea where that roof had gone.
Anyways, I needed to drive it more than I did. The Mercedes coupe/sportscar had problems because it wasn't driven enough so much that it wouldn't lift up so you could drive it off. Got it towed. I needed to drive the Ferrari airport car as well but didn't so it had a dead battery. Which I replaced. Again the Ferrari he owned was to get in line for another Ferrari... Spider? So that thing just hung out in the corner. I locked myself out of it by accident when I was doing the battery. With help from a car guru down the street I was able to get back into it by pulling a cord under the front section. Neat trick.
See I'm not a car guy. Truck guy. Don't fit in sports cars. So I wasn't keen on this whole thing. In fact the first time I saw the Bentley all I saw the big B. Boss sells Buicks, so... "is that a Buick?" Luckily I asked the other pilot before the boss got out and he was sharp enough to say "don't say another word." "roger."
BUT, as to driving them around I'm not an idiot. Even if the car needed exercise I'd rather bang my head against the wall in fear of what would happen driving those cars around the trashy side of Gwinnett county. Besides the Ferrari had paddles, don't know how those work and if I should learn on a Ferrari.
I was forced to drive them though and when I did it was great and it was one hell of a car to pull into. But I have to say the $70K Denali was really nice as well. Just as nice on the road and interior noise. Both had big engines but were super quiet.

I will say that we dumped the Accord not long after I nailed a deer on the way to work with the truck. It was right at dawn and I was looking for deer and still hit it. It was about the width of the truck. Never hit the brakes doing about 55mph. As I put on the brakes I remember seeing it still in the air and above the car but off to the side. Landed about 30' off the road in a ditch.
Cost me $60 to replace the front grill. $100 if I hadn't bought it from someone in the family who sold parts. Had that been the Accord...
To keep this relevant to Delta, I was on the way to the simulators.

I know this is not about the Odyssey but because you mentioned it I want to talk about it.
I have a gorgeous looking 05 EXL. I stayed away from the touring model because no way will I ever spend $2000 to replace run flats.
I thought I did a lot of research on it and you see it everywhere in ATL so you figure it is a safe bet. But you just don't know what to ask sometimes, take for instance engine mounts.
$1200 a piece for the mount (for the one that matters) before labor and pulling the engine out. Very common that they go out around 60,000 or so miles. The engine mounts are built to help deal with the extra heavy engine they installed. They have them on display at the dealership to show you what a broken one looks like because it's such a common event and costly.
To keep this on topic about Delta, I finished my quarterly CD before anyone had to call. THX.
Look under the front bumper of an 05 to 09 and you'll see a gap. Behind that open gap is the A/C system. If it gets a rock chip from the road it will not be covered under warranty. It was not uncommon for a brand new Odyssey to have this happen and returned to the dealer only to find out the $1000+ bill is not covered. Some had it happen twice in a few months. Class action lawsuit. I spray painted gutter guard black and zip tied it to the front, you should see it as it has chips in it so it worked. Problem is the A/C failed anyways for another reason... $850.
Mine may or may not have a rear seal leak. Just hit 100,000 miles. Between that in the engine mounts I'm looking at $2K to fix, if I'm lucky.
The timing belt is not on a chain. $700-$1200. Honda wants you to do it at 60,000 miles but their marketing department says 100,000. fwiw.
The steering pump had a recall and thank goodness, that thing would've cost me $600+ to replace. It squealed in the winter when cold and it doesn't go away. I found if you replaced the fluid you could make it go away for a while but Honda replaced it on my van at 99,400 miles. whew. And that was only because the service tech fought for it... and themselves really.
Personally this is the second Honda car and it will be the last. I like driving it although the wind noise is obnoxious but it's not as mechanically sound as I think it should be. I think Honda's QA is going downhill very rapidly and the one telling thing to me is they fight hard now on recalls.
I think this will also be my last van. My 2000 F-150 is absolutely trouble free and no timing belt. It's great. Trucks are built to carry their own weight plus some, a van is not built to carry its own weight plus the options. As evidenced by blown tire belts which come to find out is also common on a Odyssey in the heat.
And to keep this on topic, I've moved down 2% in ATL on the 88. I was really hoping to one day bust that 80% threshold. But I'm still here. So that's all that matters anymore. But looking at the bid, my word, A320 wow. Senior. I think my next plane when the day comes will be... ready... ready... 73N. Unless the 320 gets more junior. I plan to do this when I can hold at least 70% or so on the 73N/320 which I estimate to be around 2021.
