How about this: DALPA negotiates SWA scope and pay plus, and leaves the snarky and irrelevant talking points to management.
seriously. I don't need to be insulted by "my" bargaining agent. If you can't, won't, or have too much at stake personally to address the issues at hand, just have the integrity to say so and step back.
Integrity. What was I thinking.

Rampers, mechanics, gate agents, flight attendants, etc. Everyone was union.
Now none of them will be.
Management has got to be ecstatic.

Are you kidding? The NC/MEC/LEC, etc will be working ALPA trip drops and keeping their cushy jobs while you and I fly the line day in and day out. How long do you think it's been since any of the MEC administration flew more than a few days a month?
Snow forecast in ATL. They did tomorrows short calls for ATLM88B at 11ish this morning as usual then called me at 1700 to give me a 0600 SC. Scheduler even said the were adding SC for the WX. Since ATL is such a big part of the operation, a potentially severe IROP (known locally as AM flurries) has the potential to derail the whole operation.
They have gone to General Quarters on Virginia Ave.
Skeds is putting the whole airline on short call.
If it snows at Hartsfield --
Even if they can't --and I think they can, since they won't be worried about grooming the next chief pilots and otherwise rolling over like ALPA is--at least we won't be sending money outside of our pilot group to support the bloated gluttons in Herndon who are required to support those who would undercut us. At the VERY least, dues will decrease and monies available to our pilot group will skyrocket.
Do folks on here know about the outgoing ATL chief pilot's ALPA background? Totally unsat. I want my union folks to be persona non-Grata in the Mecca hierarchy.

Simple: Because I don't believe ALPA is the only possible source of success. The fact that you would ask this question seems to presuppose that ALPA is the venue for success. Many of us disagree.
Now here's a question for you: What on God's green Earth makes you think that ALPA will shoot for getting Delta pilots the industry's leading contract given their history?
Carl

As far as question 2, I believe that since the guys negotiating the contract also have to live under that contract it is ludicrous to believe that they would want anything else. No.. it's beyond ludicrous.
I am no pom pom shaker... but I fail to see other than vitriol towards ALPA. What it is that DPA brings?
Mods: Sorry this is here, but I am just answering the question. Feel free to move it over to that other thread.
