At the VERY least, dues will decrease and monies available to our pilot group will skyrocket.

Do folks on here know about the outgoing ATL chief pilot's ALPA background? Totally unsat. I want my union folks to be persona non-Grata in the Mecca hierarchy.

And yet everyone here wants us to be more like SW? Strange

I don't want to be SWA- but I do like asking why should they get paid more?

It's good that we're going into section 6 with a "perceived" low cost carrier making more than we do for the same work. I'm not convinced about everything in our contract but on two major topics, scope and pay, they reign supreme over us.

I'm concerned about AMR.

The only thing I want that SWA has is their pay rates for our 88s/90s and up from there. They can keep the rest of their gig.

Of course they were. We'll all be able to see for ourselves when DALPA releases it...right?

Lightbulb Short Call

Is there some kind of airline meltdown going to happen tomorrow? I'm asking because, I am trying to figure out why crew scheduling has assigned 7 short calls out 11 guys on reserve for tomorrow in my category. They only require 2 and the next open trip is on Dec 22? Maybe they are just trying to make sure we all get five before the end of the month.......

Back to the WOW: Maybe I should clarify. I think a lot of the DC-9 guys/gals I fly with are just like everyone else -- waiting for the big one.

Please don't think I am complaining either. I've had my WOW and I hope to be done for a while. But, I must point out that the -9 is a great airplane.

Go Saints!

I'll be rooting for the Saints as well, only because I hate the Giants!

And about the DC 9, I liked it when I flew it, 1984-85, but that was 27 years ago, and they were OLD then! Still it was a lot of fun to fly and it never tried to kill you.

When I checked out in the MD 88, (1992) I said, "Just let me fly it in raw data, like a DC 9, at least then I know whats working and what's not!" (this was when the 88's had no IRU's, just that crappy AHRS system wich would always lead to a Map Fail while shooting a VOR app. below about 3,000') How the FAA ever allowed that thing to be certified is beyond me, but like they say, Boeing builds Airplanes, McDonald Douglas builds Character!

No they won't. The vast majority of us can't get max pay plus stipends plus expenses, plus, plus.

The incentive is keeping MANAGEMENT happy since that's where their bread is buttered.

With this "union", the answer is YES. Because that's what management wants. You know, constructive engagement and all.

Because they won't be screwing themselves. They don't live under the same deal we live under.

Possible snow in ATL tomarrow morning. We all know how great ATL is at deicing, so yes, meltdown may be a good adjective.

Simple: Because I don't believe ALPA is the only possible source of success. The fact that you would ask this question seems to presuppose that ALPA is the venue for success. Many of us disagree.

Now here's a question for you: What on God's green Earth makes you think that ALPA will shoot for getting Delta pilots the industry's leading contract given their history?

Why would that matter? What effect does an LEC rep have on the unelected MEC permanent bureaucracy?
