I got one out of training. But that was in 09'. I do not see why they do not type all pilots in all aircraft. In the 75/76 and 73 it was just an extra approach or two in the left seat and a taxi exercise.

So now when your 60+ year old capt passes out, you can kick them out of the seat and taxi the jet in

No chance, Tebow's head, and her boobs, would never fit in that small cockpit!

2. Who cares. Are you going to fly this airplane your career at Delta. Get over it and worry about something that matters.

Seems to me, if you are junior, it matters. If you are senior, it also matters. Type rated means you can log in command time while flying your leg. If furloughed in the future, that could mean the difference between direct hire captain and no job offer.

So we're taking over the leases on 2 of GOL's 767..I assume this means we now will be flying them also?
2nd question..the slot swap fetched a pretty penny..Does Delta and US Airways get this $$ or does the gov't?

DAL and LCC get the money.

On the command time, maybe. In a two man op, the Capt always signs for the jet and that is what many of these Asian carriers see as PIC time. For a three man op, you probably could get away with it for the two hrs that the Capt is no rest, but not when he is occupying his seat. Of course SIC all of the time

No, they do and have for some time. It was pilots that interviewed with the 737 type, and no time in it, who said they had no interest in SWA that made them scratch their heads.

Does that pass muster with your own hiring board? If so, great - I can log all my legs after my downgrade as PIC - but I'm thinking they don't see it that way.
