Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
But hey, if we keep turning a Billion dollar or more profit each year, it is still easier when we are in front of the NMB to point to FDX, UPS, and SWA than it is for Mgt. to point at broke/scraping by airlines.....
AMR survives, way lower costs, lower debt, new jets with no mtc costs. No room to bargain. We agree to a contract lower than LUV. LUV is the top and stagnates or takes cuts. Patterning is dead.
AMR mergers with LCC and or B6. Nuf said.
AMR needs to survive, foreign ownership is allowed, in an election year. Bipartisan approval, and Transnational airlines take shape.
AMR is parted out. Has the least effect on the DAL pilot group, but the impact is far reaching for all pilots.
Suffice to say, Arpey holding on is not good for the industry or its pilots. Their filing is the final chapter in industry consolidation that we have all been waiting on though.
One more thing: I would be floored if DAL did not go after JAL again.

I am always looking for the aunt jemima treatment (name the movie Carl), but she likes to keep me on the road - frowny face.
She didn't get the job btw, I guess she wasnt morbidly obese nor a smoker. I'm glad, she's a stay at home mom.

Some guy on CNBC says AMR wouldn't want ALL of LCC. I see AMR and the East side of LCC going one way, and maybe B6 and AWA going the other, giving B6 a true West Coast hub other than slot controlled LGB. Parker would still go to run AMR, and that would be that. The only ones left, other than SWA, would be AK, F9, NK, Virgin America, Hawaiian, and Sun Country. Eventually there will only be a few big International players from the US, and maybe 2 LCCs. Our Country's airlines will have to compete with the Emirates of the World, who just bought 50 new 773s and has 90 A380s coming, with hot FAs. Hard to compete with that.
That said, if they do they go after the East. SWA gets the West and there is nothing left for us, until they go get B6. At that point we get the B6 terminal.
Parker will probably run after AMR, and want parts. He has enough ego that he will want to keep PHX over DFW which is a mistake. He would want to shift a lot of the MIA flying to CLT to get better connecting revenue. They effectively reduced their overlap in NYC with the slot swap as well. AMR would be the surviving name.
B6 could also make an end run too.
Reality is that UCAL, LUV, and DAL are in the best shape to fight for pieces if parker gets after AMR. Honestly I have expected an attempt at fragmentation for quite some time. I expected a filing on or around Dec 27-28. Going in now preserves cash and allows AMR to better fight off parker.

No, not at all. His salary was in line with a FAM that is in my reserve unit -- and I've had the same discussion with him as well.
Pulling from a criminal justice school information website:
Federal air marshal pay can vary depending upon your experience and education; however, according to salary.com and TSA literature, entry level salary is, on average estimated to be $48,000 per year; however, more experienced air marshals can make $70,000 to $90,000. Those in supervisory or higher ranking roles tend to earn significantly greater.

I wouldn't do that job for $250,000/year. Fly around in the back of airplanes for a living - I guess its a little better than Hell - but probably worse than purgatory.
Your basically a professional dead header - which I can't stand. I don't care if they sit up front. Now if they were allowed to take advantage of all the first class amenities, nope, still wouldn't do it.

IMHO we should take their oil and refuse to sell them refined products they need for their energy infrastructure. I guess the theory is they can't build nukes if they don't have money. But, North Korea has made it all these years by starving their people.
While not as critical of O'Bama as most, I find it very concerning that he has broken diplomatic communications with the nutty Iranian government. We had communications with Russia simply because they had nukes and we wanted as much opportunity to avoid an exchange as possible. We should engage Iran for the same reasons.
If Iran aims a nuke at Israel, the likelihood that they'll hit something else with their level of technology is fairly high. Hopefully they'll hit the middle of an ocean and give us all the provocation we need to remove that threat.
Watching this AMR filing discussed on tv it's obvious that AMR's side of the story has been bought without question. The mantra is their non labor costs are equal to others but their labor contracts were far higher and sent them over the edge because their competitors got those labor costs already.
Pilots demanding 7% raises every year in this economy shows their greed. They're out of touch. Their fault.
Nobody is well educated on the airline industry whatsoever to go beyond that. Partly because there is no sympathy for over glorified bus drivers to make as much as city bus drivers. Even if they're driving 300 people in a $275M jet to the other side of the world.
Nobody knows profitable SWA gets paid better. Hell probably a good portion of our airline pilot group doesn't know that.
The void today is nobody is standing up for the pilots, so by the end of the day pilots are down and those who have the authority to say something are nowhere to be found.
