At the FBO I work at, a Seminole is $239 an hour, but down the taxiway a bit at the college I go to, the Seminoles there are $330 an hour!

Quote: anyone know a place where one might be able to get checked out in a BE58 and get maybe 25 hrs on it?
Also, at KASH in NH, you can rent a Baron for about $320 an hour.

I thought about getting my high performance in it, but the FBO I work at got an brand new G1000 182 and it is only $165/hr. After flying a plane like that, a Piper Warrior no longer excites me .

Quote: A pilot is often (only) as good as his instructor, and If his instuctor has his eyes fixed on being a "CRJ FO", ahem, he will not care to teach the stick and rudder skills even in a glass panel aircraft.

I am certainly generalizing, here, but I think my point is clear
Couldn't have said it better myself!!! It is up to the instructors to teach these folks how to keep their head OUTSIDE of the cockpit, and off those gee-whiz-bang avionics they have.(I am a big fan of the G1000 though, especially in the TBM850's with the wide-screen MFD w/ keypad!!!)

I ran into someone at GLAIC who provides training in Barons. His regular 6 pack baron goes for 495/hr, or you could go with the G1000 baron for 995/hr. He's out of KYIP in michigan. He's also got two or three tail draggers.

500/hr and 1000/hr for a Baron! Who in their right mind would ever pay that much?

He was saying that he gets about 4-8 ppl a year to rent the g1000. He had a guy last year get 30 hrs block time on the g1000. Basically the guy that got the 30 hrs and other customers fly the g1000 baron to shoot approaches at a high a/s to get use to that a/s for transitioning to their citations they just ordered. 30k for some training is nothing when you got money to blow on a new business jet I guess?!

I forgot about those types of customers. An alumni from my school wanted to get an Eclipse, but his insurance company said he didn’t have enough multi time. His solution was to buy a Twin Star to fly for 200 hours. Now his Eclipse order has been cancelled, and the Twin Star is grounded because the gear box has passed its 300 hour replacement period.
