Its hard to believe but some of the least expensive twins has been in san diego(180 at KCRQ and 189 at KMYF) considering how expensive everything else is here.

I wonder how the Cirrus rental market impacts that? If I want to rent to travel, I'd rather pay $250/hr for new Cirrii, than rent a tired piece of garbage twin.

I don't think it is the market that drives the prices for multi aircraft up as much as it is the insurance costs, and maintenance involved in patching together the current aging fleet of aircraft. The twins that I am familiar with barely fly, as multi students are few and far between. If it were a market thing, it would make sense the the price would be lowered accordingly. Seems like the average is $200-$250 for a PA-44 or Duchess no matter where you go.

Great point. I was an instructor in Wisconsin and we had a Seneca II for $225 wet I believe (2 years ago my brain is mush). Now they have that plane and a couple of Cirrus SR-22s for about the same price. I would rather fly higher and faster in a nicer seat listening to XM radio with a functional a/p. And now they can fly through ice!!! Is there nothing a Cirrus can't do???

$250 ha try $350. I couldn't find a Cirrus in San Diego County but up at SNA the 2008 SR-22 G3 Turbo goes for 349/hr. Same place has a beater Seminole for $263/hr. If you really want to go in style they have an Extra 300 for $370/hr

Look at Plus One (Plus One Flyers) for a Cirrus in San Diego, out of MYF I believe.

At my school (Long Island, NY) the instructors get a Seminole for 190$ an hour wet.
