You would NEVER regret purchasing a Sig...they are some of the best-balanced, accurate-from-the-box autoloaders available. Its no surprise you were the most accurate with it - it just 'points' well. That said, your wife might not like it too much if you are looking for one weapon to suit you both.

If you fired the P226, you should REALLY try the P229 and the P239 before you make any purchase decision. You might also try the SigPRO 2340; its styled like the P229 but has a polymer grip for somewhat lower weight - still accurate, still well-balanced, still SIG accurate (and a bit cheaper than a new P229).

I'd also recommend trying a Glock 19 vs. a 17...the 17 is "full-size" and the 19 is "compact". You may find the G19 grip slightly more comfortable than the 17, though its a similar shape. Glocks grip differently than Berettas or Sigs, but if you put a couple hundred rounds downrange with them you should be able to figure it out.

For the wife (and I recommend 'his and hers' weapons) you should look at a Ladysmith .38 SW, or maybe a Sig 230/232 or the new P238 in .380ACP. The 230/232 are based on the Walther PPK line and the 238 the Colt Mustang. My wife has a S&W Detective Special .38SW, and she prefers its "point and click interface" (heh) to my P232.

Get the SIG I'll be picking up a P229 Elite Dark in .357 beginning of next month. It is a very very very nice gun quality is second to none. Pricey but you are getting what you pay for.

Well after a lot of trips to the range and a ton of reading I finally settled in and got the Sig SauerP226 9mm. Awesome gun. It also comes with the night sights.

It was pricey but in NH there's no sales tax! I knew it was the gun for me and the wife. We both enjoyed shooting it and both did well with it.

I was hesitant just because of the price but you do get what you pay for! Definitely a gorgeous gun. Can't wait to go to the range in the morning.

I just picked up a Kahr PM9. I put 100 rounds downrange with it today. Very nice shooting piece. It's small, light and comfortable in my hands.. Perfect ccw weapon, IMO.

Im stuck between a Sig 229 and a Kimber Ultra carry for the next pistol, you do get what yu pay for nice gun.


Found a nice non range place to shoot was a long drive but worth it.

I'm looking for outdoor places to shoot in NH. I have a friend who owns about 10 acres in the northern part of the state. Definitely a long drive but worth it to shoot outdoors all day in a nice secluded setting. My friend and I are looking for land closer to the southern portion of the state. Obviously like any populated area we run into the issue of private property everywhere. We believe we found a good chunk of land that is not private. He's going this weekend while I'm out on a trip so I guess that'll be the determining factor whether or not we can use this place or I have to bail him out of jail.

My 226 is fitting right in! The night sights are a blast. I was able to use them at night at the previously mentioned private property. Absolutely amazing. It also enjoys the hollow points it has in its belly right now.

I'm already looking at getting a Ruger 10/22 for some target/plinking and possible small game hunting. I should have gotten the Ruger first because the wife is still a little bit in shock of the 226's price.

Just picked up my Sig 229. Got a hell of a deal. Sending a few hundred rounds down range tomorrow can't wait.
