Interview Essay Topics
Would all the people who have interviewed care to tell what their essay topic was. I understand it can be ANYTHING, and there is no way to really prepare for this, but I think it would be interesting to see some of the topics. Just a few of the topics Ive heard are: NOTAMs, PRM, ADS. Enquiring minds want to know.

Good point GV! That would be a good spot to think of. But first, I'm still waiting for this phone call. Have you heard anything?

The EU has instituted a carbon trading system where airlines could trade their allotted foot print. Explain how this would or would not affect your behavior in the cockpit. Something along those lines.......

I haven't heard anything yet....But then again I didn't have my hopes too high that I would get a quick response based on what I've read as far as the timeline goes. I just submitted my info last week when the latest window opened. In the meantime I'm just trying to get all my ducks in a row, so when the opportunity does present itself, I'll be ready. I'm still on active duty for another 5 months so I'm hoping to roll right into Atlas when I retire in January.

Do you think the TSA "Trusted Traveler" Program is a good idea? why or why not?

(The mil guys had no idea what it was, so the moral of the story is to make a clear and logical argument and support it, regardless of the fact that you might be slingin' hooey. Fake it till you make it.)

At least one person I know of (gal that attended the WIA conference) that updated her stuff early (she received an email informing her the window was about to open) has already received the phone interview. I believe she was also set up to do the test online, but to my knowledge she has not taken it yet.

What are the operational and technical differences between Category II and III ILS approaches?
Operationally, CAT II you see the runway, CAT III you don't. Technically, one can be landed manually, the other requires an autoland. Unless approved CAT III with HUD.

Explain the difference between, lnav, vnav, and lpv approaches.
LNAV think VOR approach, lateral guidance. VNAV think the acft is flying an "ILS glide path" based on the Top of Descent and End of Descent point. Assuming inputted correctly. You can have VNAV engaged during LOC app. You can (should) have LNAV and VNAV engaed during a non-precision app. LPV - Localizer Performance with Vertical guidance. Need on Ops Specs, basically GPS approach. Not that I've ever flown one.

OMG, nevermind....I thought you guys were asking. Now I realize those were essay topics.
