Default Got the call...

First, I'll get this out of the way... approx. 8000 TT, 4200 TPIC, military/regional

Second, I did attend the Women in Aviation job fair in Dallas. Got an e-mail prior to window opening to update resume and do PAQ. Phone interview late August. Did online tech test approx a week or so after I got the e-mail (work and training prevented me from doing it earlier). Just got the call for an interview!

E-mail made ZERO mention of dress code. The way I see it, I have two options: 1) Show up in full interview attire or 2) Call back and ask. I'm leaning toward option 1, even though there has been much discussion on this board regarding "business casual" dress.

So now for the serious stuff... GOUGE!! How many recent interviewees are there on this board? Any info to pass along? Did you do an interview prep course? With who? And how far in advance did you do it?

Of course any and all information that you can pass along my way will be greatly appreciated!! (And before you ask... Yes, I did read all 450+ pages of this thread!!)

Thanks in advance...

Just deferred the face-to-face...no plans for further interviews this year. Great.

Might have already been discussed, but how can a current employee recommend someone or where do they send a recommendation to?
Atlas has a link to explain it to current employees.

The applicant sends the Atlas employee their resume. It has to be titled in a specific way, the same way as the resume that was sent in from the applicant to Atlas.

The atlas employee, using their atlas co. email, sends the resume as an attachment, and explains why they are recommending the candidate.

I was told that if you are recommended, they will pull your application package (email with .pdf resume and .pdf online questionnaire both attached) out of the pilot and look at it, and you are given a certain number of points...last I heard 30 points was the max you can get from recommendations....have no idea what the max possible total points are....and they may have changed the process since I was told.

Perhaps you should qualify your statement.... I take it to mean you declined the dates offered because of your previous mentioned situation.....and then you were informed that beyond those dates there would be no more interviews?

or do you mean you called and even though you were going to decline you were told they were not doing anymore interviews anyways...

Sorry, the former is correct. I simply couldn't, barring a personal emergency, get the time off. To lie about that would put my current job at risk, so I called Atlas and regrettably told them that I couldn't make the next interview date. They told me that they didn't have any more interviews planned for the remainder of the year (which could change, of course), but that I should call back every month or two to check up on it. I have a sinking feeling that I just missed the boat here.

Thanks for the clarification.... I was sure I understood what you meant .... but so many here hang on every word concerning Atlas I thought clarification was in order..... good luck to those who DO interview. Had my shot in 2010.

Doubtful. They understand and respect that people have jobs and can't always get free for the interview. Happened with two that I recommended and they were very understanding, told them to keep in touch and let them know when they could make it.

Bottom line. Drop a polite follow up, restating the situation, thanking them and promising to keep in touch. I suspect you'll be OK.

The lack of interviews for the rest of the year has more to do with 4th Quarter ops and not wanting to have a bunch of folks in school over the holidays.

Good luck.

That's great to hear; thanks for the encouragement. The person in HR seemed very understanding, but it's tough not to have a one-man pity party for myself after having to pass on the last interview session for the year. I suppose the right thing to do isn't always the easiest, but hopefully it pays off.

I know someone who got the initial HR call today, so maybe hiring is not slowing for the 4th quarter? Last year had lots of new hire training right through the holidays with breaks for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Not saying I know what they're planning...just saying.
