Seriously...PLEASE read the threads! Even the one just before your post. IT VARIES...it changes daily...weekly...hourly...minute by minute.

In other words...you are asking for specifics where there are none. If you are looking for a schedule that will not change and guarantees you that you WILL be home as published...Atlas is NOT for you.

We need more icons...

what he said in spades.... the same could be said for ANY ACMI carrier flying today. The schedules are Dynamic and can create chaos at times..... hell my last trip out ... one night we were scheduled to simply ferry a bird from BAH to SHJ about 1.5 total block ... less than an hour in the air... while in the hotel car to the airport scheduling called and changed itinerary..... now is was BAH-LEJ (5+ hours)...then turn around and fly to DXB (another 5+ hours) total block over 11 hours for the "short ferry to SHJ"....

Just looked at last month's bid pack for ANC. Almost all the lines operated out of ANC or were a DH on company aircraft to ICN. Just a couple DH to SEA/PAE or LAX. Just flew with a mid level ANC Captain who lives in SEA. He said he always tries to get any LCF trips out of PAE but it's only worked out for him one or two times.

My award for the first part of September was a DH to LAX (from JFK) and a freighter rim trip. Before I left the house that all went away and I ended up going to Ft. Campbell and flying five PAX legs to Bishkek and back followed by couple domestic ferry legs.

I know what day I'm going to work. I know when I should be home. In between I just go where they tell me.

I'm an ANC new hire and for the last 7 months my lines have just about always started out of ANC. For gateway purposes, you'll just about always end up with imputed income and you'll travel on your days off. As for flying, it's Atlas... stand by for schedule changes, unless you're on one of the DHL trips, and they rarely change. Most of my trips seem to be in the "Bamboo Triangle" (DXB-HKG-PVG), but there are plenty of other layovers and if you get picked off your trip in DXB, you can easily find yourself in Europe or Africa. After all, flexibility is the key to Air.... oh wait that was a former life. Good luck!

These guys aren't lying when they say most of the info has been covered already. Some may be dated, but it'll get you started at least.

First piece of advice...READ THE ENTIRE THREAD. Sorry for yelling!!

In my 15 years at Atlas, I can count on one hand (ok, maybe two) the number of times I have been involuntarily extended into my days off. And that was before we had the trip rig...so, now that we have the rig, I don't give a hoot what they do with me.

If you cannot handle what happens in the confines of your 17 days, and you must have a set schedule...Atlas is absolutely not for you.

If your blood pressure rises when something changes in your life (work, personal, etc)...Atlas is absolutely not for you.

Please do yourself (and your family, and a guy that really does want the job) a favor, and do your homework...and guess what, here is the homework...

I forgot to mention...

The Atlas lifestyle is NOT for everyone...there is no shame in that.

Just like the jetBlue, etc (domestic only ops) is not for me (and me only) after doing flying (and layovers!!) outside the USA. I love it, wouldn't want it any other way...but that does not mean it will work for you.

If you approach this kind of life (ACMI, supplementals, etc) with a sense of adventure, sense of humor, and a love for the unknown, this just might be for you.

I am up to about pg 250, still reading, and FFwd-ing to current pgs to see what is new.

Thanks for the input. Seems like the bases really vary, whether you start-end there, or DH elsewhere. Once I'm on the road, I don't care what happens to my schedule, but it's important to me to know what will be involved with getting there on day 1.

Thanks for your feedback, and thanks to all that keep the information flowing on this thread. It's what really makes me want to be a part of Atlas
