Good luck.
I came to Atlas because of a furlough and it was a good job. I am staying at Atlas because of what 744Driver said. For me it works. It doesn't for everyone. You have to be able to just "go with the flow."

Cheers,

T333,

Having a business plan that makes money also helps!! We are lucky that is the case...not all the players in the ACMI business are doing well these days.

Thanks for the input. Seems like the bases really vary, whether you start-end there, or DH elsewhere. Once I'm on the road, I don't care what happens to my schedule, but it's important to me to know what will be involved with getting there on day 1.

Thanks for your feedback, and thanks to all that keep the information flowing on this thread. It's what really makes me want to be a part of Atlas
Something that maybe has not been covered recently regarding this issue is the ability to change bases if you are dissatisfied with the one that you start with. New hires in the 74 will probably end up in ANC or HSV. The 76 guys will get CVG or maybe JFK. I moved twice (voluntarily) in my first six months. While you may not get IAH if that's your thing (senior for the 744), you will probably be able to bid away from a base that least suits your situation and into one that is better for whatever your needs are.

Any other information on the essay. What have you guys written if it is a topic you know nothing about? Did you write about something else completely, or just make stuff up about the question they asked? Anyone else have any examples of essay questions? Anyone completely bomb it and still get hired? I know the point of it is not content, but still very nervous!

Not quite true...sorry, but I just talked to guys (all internals...FEs, Management, etc) that started with the last class but are going to the 767.

New hires? Yes, they are being assigned the 744 at the present time. Most likely ANC based, but HSV is also a possibility.

Try to relate the essay topic to something you do know and expand on that. Do not make stuff up! If you don't know, say so and say that this is obviously a topic you would need to study up on if hired. They are looking to see that you can write a coherent couple of paragraphs, not to see if you are an expert on the random question of the day. Lying or making stuff up is what they are looking for during the whole interview process.

There's been a few topics that really have NO bearing what so ever on what one would need to study to be a pilot, at ANY company.
