Quote: When we filled out the survey concerning PBS a while back, I flat out said I wouldn't consider voting for it until they provided at least 4 hotel rooms a month in base.
Without commuter hotels, a 4 hour min day, PBS unstacking protections, and min day off improvements, it WILL be a no vote 100%.
Quote: Hello TSA... I'm just joining this thread. I'm a 4 1/2 year XJT FO who's coming over on the CQFO program. No doubt, your new TA was the deciding factor. I drive to ORD right now and understand STL is the junior base and expect to be domiciled there right out of training. Any opinions on how long I might expect to be in STL (or another base) before being awarded ORD?
ORD has turned into a very senior base. I'm not sure how long it would take. I know some of the CQFO's bid FO lines just to get a better QOL. Not sure how you feel about doing that...at least you'd get the blended rate. You'd probably fly very little as Captain out of ORD. With RDU opening up soon, it will shake some things up. I know people from Dulles and St. Louis will be going there for sure.
I wouldn't even mind sitting reserve capt. for a while in ORD. Just to get to ORD will be the priority for me.
Currently the most Jr cqs on CA rsv are 1/2015 hires in stl. There are no cqs sitting CA in ord.

Keep in mind if RDU ever opens that whole equation will dramatically change.
No CQ's sitting reserve in ORD, huh? That's very interesting. Looks like I'll be spending a bit more time in STL than anticipated. What's your commuter policy look like?

COMMUTER POLICY

A. A pilot is responsible for reporting to his assignment in a timely manner. This policy is not intended to relieve a pilot of his responsibility to report for work on time.

B. A commuting pilot must identify himself as a commuting pilot and designate a city as his normal origination airport with the Chief Pilot.

C. When a pilot is commuting to an assignment, he must list for at least two (2) flights on any carrier with available seats, the latter of which must be scheduled to arrive at his/her domicile at least one-half (½) hour prior to the scheduled report time of his assignment. The departure time of the earlier flight must be at least sixty (60) minutes prior to the departure time of the later flight. The pilot will immediately contact Crew Scheduling when it becomes evident that he will not appear for work as scheduled.

D. The pilot will continue to make every effort to report to his domicile as soon as practical. The pilot and Crew Scheduling may mutually agree to an alternate location to which the pilot will report.
Section 18 — Commuter Policy

18-2
E. Immediately upon arrival at the domicile, a pilot who has missed his report time will contact Crew Scheduling for reassignment. If the pilot is not returned to his original trip, he may be reassigned to another trip or to reserve (including airport reserve). If the pilot is in his domicile when the original trip passes through his domicile and he has not been reassigned to another trip, Crew Scheduling will return the pilot to his original trip. If the pilot is in his domicile when the original trip passes through his domicile and he has been assigned another trip, Crew Scheduling may put him back on his original trip. If the pilot’s original trip does not pass through his domicile, Crew Scheduling will attempt to return the pilot to his original trip, subject to operational needs. If the pilot is assigned to another trip, he shall be scheduled to be released no later than the end of the day on which the original trip was scheduled to end. If the pilot is on reserve at the time the original trip was scheduled to end, he shall be released.

F. A pilot who is unavailable for duty after having complied with the requirements of this Section will not be paid for the portions of his original trip not flown. If a pilot is reassigned to a different trip, the pilot will be paid for the trip actually flown at straight time.

G. This policy may be used no more than two (2) times in any calendar year.

H. If a commuting pilot complies with this policy, he shall not be subject to discipline for failing to appear at work as scheduled.

Per a LOA, it's unlimited.

I remember that part but I couldn't remember where to find that language!

Most junior FO in ORD for OCT award was Feb '15 hire, YMMV.
