My flight alone a year ago was almost 3 hours. I was there from like 10-4 with an hour or so lunch between the oral and the flying. Several that did it around the same time said the same. Doesn’t have to be perfect but we did every maneuver and I’ve heard of quite a few that didn’t prepare and failed.

One of my friend said it was simple and that he was done with both ground and flight parts in about 1.5.
Expect a full multi engine commercial checkride. Every maneuver, VMC demo, 4 full approaches (2 precision/2 non precision) with one being a single engine approach. Mine was around 3 hours not including the 1 hour ground. I suggest that you over prepare. They are lenient to an extent but people do fail it. Good luck

And this is in a Piper Seminole correct?
Glass ?
In any case they can be rented at lots of places for some prep work.

What airfield is the ride done out of? Alliance? Only flight school I've found online with PA44s is Delta down in Fort Worth.

I wouldn't mind renting one for an hour or two the day before. All the local schools around me are either Dutchess or Travel Airs.

The only part I figure I need to brush up on is multi maneuvers and handling something that doesn't weigh 80,000lbs!

However, this is all contingent if I get the TOL. I've just heard if they call your references that you're pretty much golden to move to the checkride part.

All ATP at Redbird used to do prep work, they know the profiles. Don’t flare at 50’ and use your PNF to the max extent possible and you will pass.

Yeah once your references are called it’s pretty much a done deal (as long as your references don’t throw you under their bus lol). The ride is done out of AFW in a Seminole which will either be g1000 or g500. They farm the seminoles out from ATP and the ATP instructors in Arlington knows exactly what checkride that they will do so if you want to spend the $$$ they can hook you up. Personally I did an hour in a Seminole prior and had no problem with the checkride. As I said before, it’s better to over prepare. The checkride is very thorough, once your done with that the rest is cake.

For what it’s worth I did my prep in a Duchess and felt extremely well prepared for the ride. I just went to a local school and asked the CFI to run me through a mock commercial multi ride. That said, I have a good deal of Seminole time from my CFI days, so I was already familiar with the plane’s quirks. But if you’re just looking to knock some rust off ME maneuvers and practice landings/learning not to flare at 50 ft, I think any comparable light twin trainer would serve you just fine.

Flights done at AFW, they farm out the seminoles from Arlington and the instructors there know the checkride that is done and the airports that are used, can be pricey. The seminoles are all glass and either G500 or G1000. Nice planes. If you have any more questions lemme know, happy to help any way I can!

I would not leave industry and come to the FAA unless you are 100% out of options, want to be nothing more than an auditor and are struggling to put food on the table! This place is in a downward spiral.

It's a government organization. Aren't they all right now?
