Quote: I am a Netjets' pilot and I think this is GREAT NEWS.... If Citation Shares or Flexjet were the ones announcing a large aircraft order, those pilots would be the ones saying "great news", I promise you....

as for growth at Netjets, I agree with you. NJ is retiring aircraft like crazy and besides some of those challengers will probably end up with Netjets Europe. not much growth

If this order wasn't perceived to be the cause of very recent layoffs, I'd be congratulating you on. It is good for everyone's morale to have some positive news come out. But how many guys at Flex just lost their job 4 days ago? And how many at Citation Air have lost and will lose their's? Come on man, maybe just use your inside voice when expressing your glee while the other guys are trying to figure out what the hell just happened.

And as was mentioned on the other site (or was it here), what if this order was placed simply to squeeze the competition out of business and the intent to take actual delivery does not exist? There seems to be a lot going on here, and it's way to soon to say if this is good or bad news.

We are having our annual State of the Union meetings this week with all the pilots coming through Sacramento...not sure if we'll be told anything of interest. Probably not...

Are the Netjets Europe pilots on the same senority list as the Netjets pilots stateside?

As far as NJA pilots are concerned. This is an aircraft order, nothing more. NJA didn't buy Flex and staple the pilots to the bottom of any list etc. It's not glee at the expense of another. It's glee that "our company" ordered a buttload of a/c. Do us furloughees hope for a brighter future someday...of course, but whatever business decisions were made between management has nothing to do with the pilots...

I'm sure there are many NJA pilots on property that are happy for both an order (meaning there is a long term plan of staying in business) and the fact they'll most likely get out of their Hawkers and Ultra's and eventually get into Challengers and Globals and such. (much better aircraft IMO).

But more so everyone still at NJA will be happy that there is atleast an order...

As far as deliveries. There is not going to be any sinister plan to get anyone out of business and then cancel orders. The Globals are on their way, as well as the Phenoms. Sims are built, bids are out, CP's are designated. These orders are slated for 2-4 years down the road. Obviously anything can happen. And I believe it is managements hope that business will be better in a few years. This down economy DOES have to end at some point.

But trust me no one is happy anyone is losing or about to lose their job.

No.. they have their own Union organization in process... Europe's unionizing rules are a bit trickier due to seperate countries have different unionization rules. IE where the company is physically located vs. where the pilots live etc etc....

Nobody here knows how many or what is "slated" for Europe etc. It will be a question posed for management I'm sure.. However with the deliveries not even scheduled for almost 2 years, alot will change no doubt in terms of who is getting what and how fast....

China is supposed to be primarily managed a/c I believe.. So not sure if they would see any orders?

What is not clear from the article is this fleet replacement or growth? Big difference between the two.

"Only" 125 firm orders...

Yes sir, plus the Globals and Phenoms, we have 225 firm orders. But we are retiring aircraft, several fleets, in good numbers and some of those new orders are going to NJE.

there is not growth at all, none, nada, but we're very happy with this order because it means Berkshire will probably keep us around for a while.

Quote: I'm pretty sure their G-IV (non 450) fleet is on its way out because they are all older with tons of hours on them. Their older citations and beechjets are dated as well.
yes sir, the G-IVs, Hawkers, Ultras and the Chihuahua jet (beech jet) are all going away.

and Now we CL300s and CL605s coming, I think that's the end of the road for the Falcon 2000, the G-200

Don't know where the X fleet stands, staying, going, don't know

This is due to growth plain and simple.... It will take years to fill this order which will be enough time to repair and the next booming economy.. All the high end toys cars, planes, etc are gearing toward Asia and middle east.. This is fantastic news.. Btw the falcon 2000 has nothing to comparable for size, cost, capability and resale, trust me 2000's aren't going anywhere... They are still the best value of any corp jet under 12m$
