Quote: Congrats! Better brush up on your Spanish. You won't be drinking any Balashis for quite a while, it is Presidente for you now in the Dominican!

He won't be drinking Presidente either because he'll be sleeping during the day.

Not even any 1-2-3 supplemented by complimentary M&Ms at the Holiday Inn Tampa? The humanity.

Bit of a story behind this one. Third day of IOE after staying in Tampa. FA asks if we want some M&Ms. Cool. Pulls a huge Tupperware bowl from her bag. Pretty nice I thought - brings candy for the crew. "Hey Cap - Want any M&Ms? FA brought some with her to dole out."
Response..."No, she filled up an entire Tupperware bowl from the complimentary dispenser on the counter in the lobby." OH. My bad.

What's with all the sleeping during the day talk? You only bid PM reserve, or are you getting stuck with it?

We're just joking around. Typically the reserves get the redeyes into places like Santo Domingo which means lots of day sleeps.

Like the days of flying MU2s in the middle of the night (without the engine failures and loss of hearing). How much time before the outbound? i.e. I'm going to need ear plugs and blinders ("HOUSEKEEPING!") so can I wake up on my own or is it min rest?

In all seriousness many of the hotels Jetblue chooses are below a standard most pilots would expect. In addition, the airline refuses to negotiate blocks of hotel rooms on high floors away from elevators or common areas. This has led to a spike in fatigue calls because you simply can't get rest. Just because you are new does not mean you should violate fit to fly. Do the best you can to get the proper rest but document the noise and times.

Quote: Well, interviewed 2/25, class date 11/12, typed 1/3, completed 25.6 hrs of IOE yesterday... I'm now official. If anyone needs me I'll be in Kew Gardens or South Ozone Park. Day sleeping, of course.
Damn...I thought I waited forever.... did they say what took so long? I was 3/20 interview, in class 10/15, done with IOE and flying the line beginning of December

After passing phase II mid-May was advised they would be unable to give me a class without more recency of experience ( I was an instructor at FlightSafety although still doing limited GA flying). Was told to get 200 hours at a regional and I would be left in the pool and not have to reapply or re-interview.

I went to Envoy for five months while in the pool awaiting a class. After 150 hrs at Envoy they issued a date. I then took the 20 day break (voluntarily) between indoc and systems which kept me home during Thanksgiving. Stayed on training pay longer but that was more than the $387 a week I was making at Envoy (yeah, slight decrease from 7 year program manager pay at FSI...about an 83% difference). Besides, it was three more weeks of not commuting to JFK in winter.

They were concerned about recency because of some failures in the JB training pipeline. Just for the record, I had no repeats, unsats, or failures in training. Ugly with the return to the regionals, but water under the bridge now.
