Very interesting observation CaptCool. If I might ask: Why do you think that happens? Is the proportion between reserve and line pilots different?

I am just trying to understand how that works.

I dunno man. I think your exposure here is based more on if you RSV over a weekend or not and if your early or late for the red eye shift.
Personally I live in base and hold weekends off. I fly less than a guy who's starting on Thursday and gets the late shift Friday and Saturdays. Less folks seem to fall ill monday-Thursday.
the ratio isn't exactly the same either from large base to small or from month to month. March and Aprils line holder can be June and Julys RSV....
Sorry that's probably not a lot of help. But it literally changes as the wind blows.

My gf is JFK 190 and works 1-2 days a month. She actually dequalified and had to go into the sim two months ago. One week she was on for 4 days, she received 3 days of Long Call and was Released her last day so never even had to go to JFK for 4 days of RSV.
I realize everyone's experiences are different, and not all bases or aircraft are the same. But this is my experience and perspective.
Fantastic. Can I ask you how senior are you to have such a good reserve treatment?

I flew 50 hours in 6 months on reserve on the E190 in Boston, only 3 hours in the super slow month of August and 0 in September. I think flying little is primarily based on holding weekends and holidays off though FLL and MCO tend to fly less off reserve overall.

I've been here for a little less than two years. It took me a year to get to FLL, It seems to be shorter now.
In my initial bid, the only thing I bid is "RSV" and "weekends off", takes all of 15 seconds. I NEVER get more than two weekend off, but in the initial swap window I'm able to move my days around to get every weekend off. As someone said earlier, this is the secret. I work RSV Mon-Thurs or Tues-Fri each week to avoid the weekends as this is where guys seem to work more.

Deferments aren't for a couple more years. I was just at OSC and the classes are smaller because of the large amount of transition training. They very much intend to hire 300-400 depending on attrition. Good luck to anyone waiting to hear. The class that started this week was filled with 9/17 interviews
