Has anyone been called for an interview without going to a job fair?

I have an application on file but nothing so far. Are the upgrade times looking like 3 to 4 years?

Always hard to know upgrade times, since it's looking backward instead of forward.

But that sounds about in the ballpark.

Have you attended a job fair?

There is absolutely no chance someone hired today will upgrade in 3-4 years. Let's be very very liberal with the numbers and say that 70% will make you a captain. That means considering we have roughly 3400 pilots that we would have to get to 4850. We have a lot of jets on order but not enough to gain 1400 pilots in 3-4 years.

Realistically figure about 7 years. 7 years if we don't retire frames or order more then on the book would bring us to a little more then 5000 pilots, plus we have about 250 retirements between now and then.

Might want to give a rough estimate of guys leaving for other companies too.

That's almost all junior guys so it wouldn't effect upgrade time.

It will if your hired at 3400/3400 and 6 years later you are 3000/4800.

I admire your optimism, but there are few and far between that can look at this industry through rose colored glasses. Right now things look good, full seats, big order book, hiring, ect. That can all change in a blink.

Don't come to any company planning on an upgrade "time". you'll likely be disappointed. If you see guys today upgrading in 2-3years, and you're hired today, odds are there will not be a 2-3 year upgrade for you.

I'd also expect guys in the churn on bottom to settle once there's a contract in place. who knows... but looking down the road 5 years every class you're not on a seniority list could cost you months or years in the right seat.

I agree, as I do with Capt Cool too. IMO, not fact, more than likely we throw a merger or acquisition into the mix, that'll quickly change everything. Example, because it's been "rumored", buying Frontier, 1200 pilots and instant growth in a domestic market to support our destination airline model. Would definitely slow down upgrades. We just need a contract that can earn FO's a decent wage.
