A friend of mine who was at the WAI event just got the call April 6th to interview May 16th.

He did not attend Vets event.

The hope continues.

Not necessarily.

Pretty ridiculous that we have instructors who are "good enough" to teach JB newbies, but not "good enough" to be on our seniority list. All in the name of saving a few bucks.

Hopefully this will change soon.

Some are. They are supposed to get a seniority number after 1 year of instructing, but it hasn't worked that way for all of them.

I hear they are guaranteed an interview after one year, not necessarily a number.

You are correct. That might be the reason why only some get numbers

Most are. Many are hired as non-seniority instructors and apply for numbers a year later. They have to apply and interview just like any other pilot.

Some instructors started as regular pilots and went into the training department. It's a mix, really. The pay is based on FO Airbus rates, so once they can hold captain they have a decision to make, as the pay doesn't go up to captain rates.
