jetBlue Hiring
#4401
What is the latest in hiring at JB.... I have a friend flying for them that said they are having trouble finding people with enough jet time and they have guys leaving class to go to legacies. Any truth to this? It seems to me that lots of qualified guys are applying, myself included.

Yeah, so basically like I said, 1-2 a class. And oh my gosh, 27 in one year. Seriously? Also, get your facts straight, it's been 24 so far this year. Ok, so I'm seriously tired of this. JetBlue may not be one of the legacies but it's only just over a decade old. Recently voted in ALPA and will soon (ok, well within a year or two) have a CBA. Guys that diss this airline really have no clue. I'm proud to fly for JB and drink the blue juice every day. I have friends with the "legacies" that fly on JB for personal travel and love it. They diss their own airline when I'm letting them know the loads on JB. There was once a time that people thought people staying at SW were fricken mad. Well with JB, only time will tell.

It's great to be happy here. I've got 8 years with no intention of leaving, but my eyes are wide open about our working conditions compared with my peers at Delta, United, etc. Frankly, being 15 years old is no excuse at this point for the regression in our insurance, hotels, etc. And to put the resignations in perspective, we churn a lot of guys in the 1-3 year seniority range over to DL, UA, and AA. The correct number last year was 110. To put the number in perspective, how many guys with 1-3 years at the big 3 have their apps in here? And if you're going to drink the bluejuice, wouldn't you rather have the company invest resources somewhere other than training guys to make them more competitive for a legacy?

Not true. I have 3 buddies I'm trying to get on here. All have thousands of jet time. I've been told absolute min to get considered is 4000TT.

Thanks for the info, that is what I was kind of thinking. I'm about 6000 TT, 4000 JET, 2800 as PIC, BA degree, 91/135 background. Lots of hiring going on, but lots of great people applying. Good luck to all!

And that seniority attrition number you posted of 1-3, well, NO DIFFERENT than in the 2007-2008 era, the pre 9/11 era, etc.
Pre 9/11 pilots left SW/JB, and others for the legacies, as they do now. Post 9/11, JB and SW (and others) provided furlough refuge for pilots hired at DAL/AA/UAL/NWA/USAIR and whomever else. This industry goes in cycles, and pendulum is simply going the other way. As it has in the past.
work work work work work.......
......and how did the GUM M&G go?

Agreed. I wouldn't still be here if I thought we didn't have one. I just don't think our young age as a company is still a legitimate excuse for keeping our compensation and/or working conditions below par on so many levels.

JC, GUM was a great experience, spent about an hour with the CP and things went really well.....only time will tell if it pays any dividends, the CP assured me that it will, but until I'm sitting in indoc I'll have to remain hopeful for now.
