This same experience for me. JFK based but IOE was out of BOS due to check airman availability.

I will also add that the observation flights will likely be a goat rope. You won't have a proper listing and there will be confusion at the gate. Once onboard the crews are usually very excited to have another new guy along..

Rumor has it that the application window will be opening in January. Can anyone validate this?

This. Don't delay in making your crashpad arrangements. Otherwise you'll spend a fortune in hotels, and with our pay being 30-40% behind our peers that is going to hurt.

Heard the same rumor and that it was because we only got about 300 qualified applicants in the last open window.

If this is true, we'll have a contract before the end of this year.

Not if we don't have a lot more pilots unwilling to work on a day off picking up RSAs...

That's a separate issue. JB wants to hire between 4-450 pilots this year....could be on the higher end depending on how many people bolt for the big boys....

If we don't have enough pilot candidates due to low qualified applicants, the powers to be will start feeling the pinch.....

I'm not counting on it, but it's something to watch going forward.

Best way is to educate potential applicants on how things really are here. Don't hold anything back, don't sugarcoat anything, just lay it all out on the table. It will also save some heartache for those guys on the fence about holding out for a legacy or coming here.

Bingo. Let's all row in the same direction here.
