Delta most certainly "looks at it," and views it very favorably.

All majors love masters. Trust me. Major points. If in a "useful field" aka MBA, Engineering, Law, etc, super major points.

Not only are masters viewed favorably, there are companies that won't even have you interview because they know you will leave when you get the "better" offer. They also generally have the effect of raising your GPA, an area where you won't have to turn a negative into a positive in the interview.

Ok maybe Delta, but they're giving way more weight for ip's and check airman, so the masters is totally secondary.

Usair and AA are selecting from a computer randomly, so a masters can't possibly matter there.

United hires based on connections.

I'm just not seeing evidence that a masters matters.

During the panel portion of my Delta interview, one of the most discussed sections of my Airline Apps application was Education. They asked quite a few questions about each level of education listed and even related my answers to my previous 121 and military flight training. I've never been a check airman and I was a military IP, but they asked me just as many questions about my education as anything else.

Hands down your IP time got you the interview though. Everyone I know who's been hired by delta including one two weeks ago was IP without a masters. I group IP/EP/Chk Arman in the same category because it's the extra cut above they like to see.

If I could go back and do it all over again I would have foregone my masters and 121PIC and went to IP school with the military. That mistake is probably going to cost me 500-1000 seniority numbers

ghillis - I would be careful in saying that United hires based on connections. I'm a 2200 hour type guy, all MIL fighter (IP/EP/FCF/DO), with only a couple of low ranking FO letters of recc and I was hired. They are many in my shoes as well. I also do think that Master's degrees add points to your application. For those wanting to get hired an undergrad degree is the minimum but a Master's is most definitely a discriminator that increases your chances of getting hired in today's highly competitive environment. It was the first question my interview panel asked me about in my interview a couple of months ago. Best of luck everyone.

I actually like the way the majors hire. United is big on meet and greets, face to face with a chief pilot etc, networking. It's a good thing, it's a great way to vet someone.

Your resume is stellar. Again I point to your ip/EP/do as what got you the interview.
