Nobody made you do that. You could have gone military too. Don't blame those that took another path or the company that hires them. To each his own. No need for yet another civ vs mil thread.

I highly suggest that if you want to move on to a mainline…any mainline…or even most so called LCC's even, that you let go of that angst and focus on the optimistic sides of the opportunities ahead, for your sake. YMMV.
Not to mention that even being able to get hired with a bad attitude doesn't get one past the probation year. You can be fired for displaying a bad attitude to any of those captains you fly with because evaluations are still done. If he really harbors such a resentment toward mainline pilots because of the pay/benefits that HE agreed to at his regional carrier, then maybe he should find another profession. He doesn't have to be cordial (whatever that means) towards me if I ask him for a jumpseat, that's his right. He can even deny it. But for the life of me I don't understand why he would want to bite on the business end of that pistol and sabotage any future he might have here or at any other major carrier.

I do get the frustration though. The civilian pipeline is a tough road, and has been for quite some time because nobody has been hiring. That is all coming to an end though

Ita a joke.
To be fair, there's a lot of Pilots out there with much more experience than the RJ guys. Many have a lot of time flying Boeing and Airbus internationally and have their apps in at the big 3.

Off the current topic a bit, but what weight does high school GPA have? I underachieved a little in that dept. 2.2, but had 3.2 Bach and 3.8 Mast. AF pilot, 3000TT/800IP.

What was your middle school GPA? If it was ok I wouldn't sweat it.

HS GPA impact? Seriously? Close to, or exactly, nothing.

Flying the four fans of freedom should be the only thing necessary on your resume!😜

I will never understand that.
You're comparing two completely different paths...apples and oranges. For most military fighter guys, it would literally take a lifetime to accumulate 10,000+ hours in the jet. Those guys are lucky to log 250-300 hours a year.

But pure numbers of flight time are not very good indicators of the quality of that flight time. You may have 10k hours in an RJ, but for the most part, what were you doing during that time? Probably spent a large amount of that time in the cruise portion of flight.

Other guys from different other backgrounds (including 135 cargo, military, etc) spend far more time doing other stuff as they log time...tactical flying, formation flying, operating out of austere airfields with limited or no support and so on.

1 hour in another operation doesn't necessarily equate to 1 hour of 121 time.

To go further, I hear this ALL the time from guys..."I have umpteen million hours of flight time but no one is calling me". Understand that at this point, they are still just interviewing what they (the majors) view as the most desirable candidates. Realize that with 10,000+ resumes stacked on their desks, they have to discriminate between everyone. Pilots who've flown the line and have thousands of hours are a dime a dozen. But there are others who have experience as check airmen, directors of operation, chiefs of safety and so on that separate them from the rest of the herd.

You need to find a way to stand out from the herd. Sitting around whining about why you have 10k hours flying jets with major airline logos on it isn't going to get you an interview. And unless you want to be a career RJ pilot, I'd find a way to get a more positive attitude, stat.
