Thoughts? You have some real first world problems! But, I've been in your shoes and I know the decision isn't easy.

Do you live, or want to live, nearest a UPS or Delta hub? Having talked to a few UPS guys...unless I happened to live in SDF or ANC, I would go for Delta. Are you in the ANG/AFR? Not having to deal with a commute makes it a totally different job. I left one legacy for another last year, mainly due to commute...now I live in base for both the airlines and my Guard gig.

Right now, I'm sitting reserve at my house. I should get released here in a few hours, at which time I'll roll into the squadron and try to snivel a night sortie. At my previous gig, I was lucky to make it home the same day I was released from reserve!

Feel free to PM me if you have questions.

Go with the airline that has been around longest and has a better track record for employee satisfaction. I know, when the time is bad, airlines will furlough but I have never heard one good thing about UPS managers taking care of their employees.

Anyway, you have a good problem on your hands. Make a choice and never look back. Seems like you have the luck of the Irish.!

I'd stick with Delta, unless you just happen to live near SDF.

UAL is 90 hours at around $70/hr plus per diem, and all hotels paid for throughout.

How long does that take, about 6 weeks?

6-8 weeks. Unless they put you on hold, in which case it takes even longer. But then you're at home, chilling out, and still getting the pay.

FWIW, I wouldn't make a decision about which airline to choose based on any of this.

totally understand, just trying to plan. It seems as though the pay during training is the same whether it is for 6 or 8 weeks. They pay you for the training not the duration of the training is that correct?
