Quote: Unless operating under part 135 crew duty times. But that has to be in the op spec too
And there is some ambiguity there as well, even if your opspecs allow it. As in - are you only a "required crewmember" if they min rest you, and not if you get the 24/8.

Hi, I have a few questions (assuming a Mokulele Kona PIC position) I couldn't find the answer to on this thread or the Mokulele website:

How long until family members receive flight benefits on airlines other than Mokulele?

Does Mokulele pay 100% of the pilots medical? Anything towards a pilot's family medical?

Could a Kona PIC regularly fly 100 hours a month if they wanted to or would counting on 80/mo be more realistic?

What is a current schedule like (days on/off, flight hours per day)?

Is the flight to/from an interview/sim check paid for?

What is the cost of shipping a car from Honolulu to Kona?

Any relocation assistance for a PIC position?

Thank you for your help!

Quote: Right now, we aren't hiring. I think in a month we will interview for a January class. As far as getting on, if you have a referral from one of us, you get an interview. Be prepared, I'd say almost half don't make it through and quite a few are flunking out after ground school when they get to the plane. Some people don't come prepared and think it will be easy but they are very picky about who makes it. We have a sim in Denver and Maui for the interview so be prepared. Also, be on the top of your IFR game. Know the regs. I hear we get on average four applications per day. I went from first day of ground to flying the line in two weeks. We have a lot of turn over here. It's a great time building job. Don't expect to make much as an SIC but we all have to pay our dues. Hope this helps.
What are a couple of things new hires struggle with grasping with IFR or other items? My friend and I applied a couple of months ago.

I think it starts around year 2 of the caravan pay if you’re a captain. I think our SICs are getting around the same per hour as Caravan SICs but get a 6 hour guarantee per day they fly vs only getting paid for your scheduled “block time” (meaning if your line is 4.8 hrs that day that’s what you’re paid for in the caravan). The lines are shorter in the PC12 since it’s just HNL-LNY routes so far so that’s why they’re doing a daily guarantee vs being paid for whatever you fly.

6 months with the company

There is medical coverage through HMSA. It’s pretty good for individual not sure how it works for family coverage but I know that’s an option.

Not right now. Changes every few months depending on how we’re staffed. (There’s a lot of movement at this company). I typically bid 65 hours cause I’m not interested in building time and it keeps me on full time pay. If you are after the hours then you can bid more but most captains are probably averaging around 70-75. You can probably pick up extras and get closer to 80-85. 100 isn’t happening right now but maybe in the next couple months when those that are regional bound head out

Days on/days off depend on what you bid and your seniority. We have split shifts (AM/PM lines). Most lines will get you in the 4-5hr range but some of the longer regulars in Kona are as much as 5.8. You can bid as many as 6 days in a row if you want.

Don’t think so. But not positive

Don’t know. But from CA it’s like $900 so interisland can’t be more than $2-400 I wouldn’t think.

Not that I’m aware of but let me know if you get it cause I want a check if so. lol. Most expensive move ever from the other side of the country but sounds like you’re just coming from HNL so shouldn’t be bad for you

Bannerpilot24, thank you so much for that very useful information! I'm from Hawaii but don't currently live there. Maybe some day...Merry Christmas!

Wonder what happened to Swayne Martin. He hasn't posted a video on his Youtube channel for 2 months.

I have 2500 TT , with over 1000 PC-12 . Does Mokulele take part time captains by any chance ?

I cannot work full time unfortunately but available 3-4 days of the week.

I’d love to fly a caravan part time around the islands.
