I can't tell you how many of my fellow Navy Flight School classmates were P.E. and music majors ... but, they had a degree from an accredited university!

Interviewed at UAL many years ago, a 2 on 1. The pilot's first question was, "doesn't your college offer a more technical degree?" I have a BS in business. What a horses A$$

BTW - I work at a major defense contractor. Folks will fly on UAL as a last resort.
You do know that he was asking that to elicit the type of response it sounds like you gave him? He/she doesn't know you from a hole in the wall, and if you're in an actual interview they don't really care about any of that stuff. Not telling you to like UA, but I am saying that if you interview anywhere else there's a solid likelihood that there is going to be a similar style question(s) about something in your background to see how you react. I don't care if you were the commander of the Enterprise, they'll still test you.

Quote: Does it help to put letters of rec in the portion of the app where you upload your resume or should you just stick to FedEx pilot only recommendations in the fedex rec part of the app? Thanks!

I was wondering the same thing. Also, the Pilot Credentials website says, "Only FedEx references should be listed below." Does that mean only internal references, or only references that FedEx can call? Do letters of rec from old coworkers and bosses help? Are they required?

Any advice on references, letters of recommendations, and internal recommendations would be appreciated?

Sorry that I cannot answer your question about hiring, but I have seen you one here for a while now, and just saw on your profile that you're on the 767.

FWIW, I met a new hire recently, who had no recommendations nor a sponsor, but got the interview because of 767 PIC time. He was also willing to go to HKG.

Good luck EMBFlyer, I know it's a tough wait.

Thanks. I'm only an FO, but I have a 757/767 type (presently fly the 757 only, as all our 767s are in the desert).

If the guy you're talking about came from Omni I know who it is...I am in the same position he was, our resumes are so similar just hoping it works out for me too!

SBI?
Quote: If it's anything like it was last time we hired a couple of years ago, it's 3 tests on day one. ( psych eval, cog skills and pilot knowledge). They send you home and call you back a few days later to let you know you passed those test, then schedule day two (SBI, sim and face to face interview.)

I second the Emerald Coast endorsement. Money well spent.
FNG question: What does SBI stand for

I think that stands for "Situational Based Interview", but it has been a long, long time since I interviewed. I am sure someone else can fill in the details.
