Quote: Seems untrue considering ASA is putting on a ALPA sponsored FFD event like United did.
Its the first time EVER, then. We tried for YEARS to get AS to give preferential interviews to furloughed ALPA pilots...no dice. Sounds like a sea change in HR. Good to hear.

Quote: Speaking of Skywest anyone know why the last class had 5 Skywest employes? I thought there was a Qx 30% thing not a Skywest 50% thing. But I'm out dated.........

Maybe there just amazing model Alk employes. It's not like Qx pilots are part of air group, and share in the profit sharing. Weird, what's the metric?
It's getting harder to find RJ pilots, so maybe making that Skywest's problem, vice QX is part of the plan.

Anybody have any information on the Gig Harbor rental scene? I'd like to move to SEA but oh so expensive on 1st year pay. Considering renting for a year or two until I can afford what I want. PMs or responses here are fine. Also happy to hear alternative suggestions of great places to live within an hour of SEA-TAC, but the high school must have an 8 or better Great Schools rating. Thanks!

Wasn't this already tried in the past to and from YVR only to be nixed due to no customs at SNA? Has something changed in the meanwhile?

SEA-JFK: since JFK is slotted, where did AS get the slot? From your friends at Delta? ( if that's even how that works?)

Or is this just paving the "merger"? BluAlaska. Bluaska, BAlaska

Probably from AA, since they will be doing LAX-MEX now.

SNA now has customs and immigration. SWA and Volaris fly to Mexico. The airport even offered incentives to start service to Mexico when they opened the facility. Alaska had the usual excuses for why they didn't want the free money.

I hate that we let SWA get more than a year's head start on the route to establish themselves. I'm sure we evaluated the fares over that period and decided we needed to get some of that. Either that or it's tit for tat on SWA flying more nonstops from socal to the Northwest.

As coryk said, probably from AA ... who is a larger codeshare partner now than DAL.

or I should say;

Could American Airlines Buy Alaska Air?

By Ben Levisohn

Remember when Delta Air Lines’ (DAL) was rumored to be interested in acquiring Alaska Air (ALK)? Now, Wolfe Research’s Hunter Keay offers a long, convoluted and very speculative scenario in which American Airlines (AAL) makes a play for Alaska Air:
This is a story about Asia. We see a potential scenario unfolding over the next few years centered around American Airlines and Delta Air Lines’ growth to Asia that ends with American Airlines examining an acquisition of Alaska Air. Here’s how:
Fact: American Airlines and Delta Air Lines both have Asian growth ambitions
Fact: American Airlines is now doing more business with two key Delta Air Lines partners
Fact: Both American Airlines and Delta Air Lines plan on growing a lot out of LAX
Opinion: The Korean Air and Delta Air Lines relationship is worsening
Opinion: The Alaska Air and Delta Air Lines relationship is not great these days
Opinion: We see Korean Air potentially leaving SkyTeam
Opinion: American Airlines might pursue a three-way JV with JAL and Korean Air …which would be a potential ‘check mate’ for oneworld in Asia
Opinion: We see Alaska Air and Delta Air Lines terminating their codeshare in time
Opinion: Alaska Air could join oneworld soon thereafter
Result: American Airlines fortifies its grip on Asia & west coast U.S. by buying Alaska Air
Keay acknowledges the likelihood of “this series of events happening exactly as we laid out is roughly 0%,” but thinks it reflects changes happening in the industry that will ultimately benefit Alaska Air.
Shares of Alaska Air have dropped 1.5% to $63.65 at 2:49 p.m., while Delta Air Lines has fallen 1.3% to $43.81, and American Airlines is off 0.5% at $48.14.

I enjoyed the "roughly 0%" this would happen, but still write about it...he might as well be on this forum.
