Quote: Ah, ahhhhh, I see what you did there. Haha. Clever!

I guess if that's all it takes.....

But anyone get an interview? I submitted my resume in early September. Crickets since. Just wondering if they're actively hiring. It was more of a "can't hurt to hear something back" submission.
Friend of mine recently interviewed and is in ground school at the moment.

I fly around 40 hrs a month, x-mass season around 70 to 90. Last year January through June I worked about 16 - 17 days a month.

Commute depends on the price of the tickets, where you live and where are you going. Could be 10 hours including flight and transport to/from the airport or could be 25 hrs with 2 - 3 legs. This is all international. Flight to China is about 14-16 hours, about the same to the Middle East.

Are you on the 74 or the MD?

If you're MD, do you know how realistic getting extra on days and OT is on average. Im sure DEC has plenty of OT opportunity, but DEC is the busiest month of the year. I was sold on the availability of 24 day months if you wanted them. So far, its not looking like i'm going to be getting the chance to OT in DEC i've been waiting for IOE for a month. I've heard after DEC through to around SEP things are pretty slow. If you're on the phone with crew scheduling a few days before the end of your cycle telling them you want to stay working, is there work to be had?

Good news. WGA is now allowing(requiring) pilots to bring their own catering on hub turn flights with no allowance for ensuring food is available near the hotels they book during the times they arrive or depart.

I have a pretty ambitious plan to have zero dept in 8 months which will make my life a whole lot better. And the slower months a whole lot nicer.

24 days is a ton of money. 150% after 18 and 200% after 21 almost hits $12000 gross for a month.

Yes, I have a life. And the things I can do with that money are limitless. Esp with zero dept.

Work hard now to play hard later.

Besides, if they already extend you to 20 days, what's 4 more at premium pay? It's a drop in the hat when you have already been out for 3 weeks.

That all hinges on those extra days actually being available for pick up.

But seriously can someone who is a current pilot at WGA answer if the 24 days thing is a realistic possibility with any amount of consistency?

On the MD-11, OT is normally available in November and December. You just have to bid your days off to be when the flying is heaviest. If your days off fall after Christmas, OT is unlikely. 24 days a month average is unlikely for the whole year, but shouldn’t be a problem during peak. I got 26 last November and will do more this year. It’s my choice because of the 2X pay and I’m glad to have the option. Last year, Jan and Feb were slow, but OT was available throughout the rest of the year. Who knows what will happen this year? The company is working on inking some new contracts in Dec. The bottom line is that there are plenty of guys that only want to fly the minimum (20 days during peak, 17 off peak) and enough guys that want OT to keep 98% happy.
